I'm Mary and I'm taking new clients! I work with individuals aged 18 and above, with a focus on grief and loss, identity exploration, building self-esteem, managing life transitions, processing family dynamics, and trauma recovery. I also love to help those wanting to manage anxiety or depression. I am LGBTQ affirming and body positive, operating from a Health at Every Size perspective. My ultimate goal is for each of my clients to discover a deep sense of purpose and connection in their lives. I approach counseling with an attitude of warmth, humility, curiosity, and humor.

Specific issues that can be addressed include affairs, communication, parenting, and lack of sexual satisfaction. Dr. Kanewischer also works with individuals and adolescents experiencing anxiety, stress and healing from traumatic events. Therapy is an opportunity to learn new skills and gain insight.

I treat: anxiety; depression; relational issues; self-esteem issues; abuse/trauma/PTSD; coping for stress and/or chronic pain/illness; lack of meaning or purpose in life. I am a Stillwater-based psychologist who provides individual therapy and psychological testing to teens and adults ages 16 and up. Using a relaxed and non-judgmental style, I help people struggling with mood concerns, relationships, work/school stress, life transitions, and trauma. I provide both traditional talk therapy and more specific trauma therapies, such as Brainspotting and EMDR. I also offer supervision and consultation for pre-licensed counselors and psychologists, as well as psychological testing for ADHD and related concerns.
