I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and although this is my specialty, I am trained to provide psychotherapy services for a variety of services including: grief, couples, family, individual, group, and marriage counseling. I have experience working with a multitude of different issues ranging from depression, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, trauma, career counseling, coaching, anger management, work-life issues/balance, etc. I feel that the client is the expert of their lives and my duty is to provide unbiased, and non-judgmental support. I offer a laid back approach in order to foster a peaceful therapeutic environment.

Hello, my name is Alena Kanter. I am credentialed as an Advanced Practice Social Worker and love working with children and pre-teens. I have two years of experience as a school-based therapist. Most of my clients came to me due to behavioral concerns at home and at school, usually stemming from trauma, big life changes and transitions. Many children struggle with big emotions and how to express and process them. I help my clients with coping mechanisms, processing their trauma, safe expression of feelings, and being able to regulate their bodies and minds.

I work primarily with couples and individuals experiencing relationship distress, mood disturbances and adjustment problems. Some of the outcomes that my clients typically seek are improved means of managing conflict, increase in positive emotional experiences , and ways to interact and relate more meaningfully. I focus on helping my clients gain deeper insights, identify and utilize their strengths and acknowledge and understand their emotional experiences.
