Hello! My name is Alena and I am an Advanced Practice Social Worker. I have excellent experience as a school-based therapist, and now as a clinical therapist. Most of my clients come to me due to trauma, behavioral concerns, or in need of help expressing emotions. Many children struggle with processing their feelings or world. My main modality is play therapy. I use play therapy to help children express themselves in a way that feels natural and safe. Through play, I help your child feel validated and normalize their experiences.
Some of the areas I specialize in include depression, anxiety, grief, divorce, and self-confidence. Many of the children I see are in foster care or in kinship homes.
I understand all of the big emotions that children have and how challenging it can be as a parent/guardian to want to help. As a parent myself and a previous school therapist, I have seen and experienced these challenges, and I have also seen how therapy can help so much.
