As for well-informed: I’m experienced in thought and behavior adjustments (CBT), skills-based coping (DBT), acceptance and mindfulness (ACT), and a lot of other psychology words.
First and foremost, thank you for seeking out therapy. Choosing to be emotionally open with someone you don’t know can be extremely difficult. You might feel skeptical or anxious, like it’s a waste of time or I’ll judge you for what you tell me. You don’t know me yet, but please trust me when I say that neither of those are true. Regardless of your reason for seeing me, I am your advocate. I will stand with you and help you accomplish whatever it is you want to accomplish. Think of me like your well-informed sidekick.

I am trained in a humanistic, Rogerian approach, drawing elements from existential psychology, psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, as well as DBT.
What's getting in the way of your living the life you want? Is it depression? Anxiety? Explosive anger? Whatever brings you to therapy, I would love to help you find a way forward. Offering a safe, confidential, judgement-free environment in which you can freely air your concerns, I will collaborate with you to explore what's not working for you, how it got that way, and how you might chart a path through and beyond it.

Using principles from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, let's untangle the factors that make your relationship with food and body challenging.
If you are struggling with your relationship with food, you are not alone. Our food environment can be a confusing minefield to navigate. Not to mention, we’re faced with harmful dieting messaging, confusing (and often contradictory) information about optimal health, a culture that’s obsessed with looks, and powerful emotional and biological urges to eat. All these factors can contribute to a quite complicated relationship with food and our body. If you feel like food is controlling your life, I want you to know that a different way of living is possible.

IFS, EMDR, and DBT create a powerful toolkit for guiding folks through unburdening.
Can you imagine the relief you will feel when you are no longer carrying the burdens you have held for so long? Being able to have a peaceful loving relationship with food and your body. Coping with stressors without alcohol or drugs. Not having daily panic attacks. I know it may feel impossible but I watch incredible people do this work every day. You can too! I am also available to write a letter to support gender affirming care, clinical supervision for LLMSW, and consultation through a liberation lens.

I do this by using therapeutic approaches that include CBT, DBT, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
There are several reasons why someone makes the decision to start therapy - relationship or family conflict, feeling hopeless or helpless, excessive worry or stress. Whatever your challenge is, we can work through it together whether you would like to meet a specific goal, improve a certain relationship, improve your overall quality of life, or if you just want a listening ear. Together we can tackle anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions.

Through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectal behavioral therapy (DBT) we can work together to uncover and challenge those negative core beliefs and automatic thoughts we may not even realize we’re having.
Immediate Same Week Openings! Sometimes we get caught up in the messiness of life and forget to enjoy it! I get it, life can be stressful! All of our feelings are normal but sometimes we feel them more intense and they might even make our day to day lives extra challenging (anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, negative thoughts, sound familiar?) You are deserving of a life you enjoy living and I am here to help you get back to your best, authentic self.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
