I work with adults, couples, adolescents who are struggling with relationship issues, anger management, PTSD, pain management, domestic violence, sexual abuse, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. My passion is to support you in your journey of self-understanding and emotional healing. We will work together to identify blocking beliefs and unhealthy coping strategies that keep you "stuck" from becoming who you were meant to be and living your life fully. I've seen countless clients improve their lives and relationships. I believe you can too. You are not alone.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, codependency, anger management, emotion dysregulation, attachment issues, and relationship concerns.
At times in life, you have been faced with overwhelming situations, challenges, and struggles. You may be existing in a day-to-day state of feeling inadequate, unaccepted, indecisive, unmotivated, and in mental, physical, and spiritual disarray. Your body is fatigued yet your mind continues to race creating unwanted scenarios leading to anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, codependency, trauma, and relationship concerns. You may feel stuck in unhealthy patterns and cycles with minimal support. You may feel powerless. Powerless to let go, start over, and risk being vulnerable.

No matter how hard you try to move forward, you feel that life has become stagnant. A mixture of emotions weighs heavily on your heart, yet you keep moving forward. At times, the responsibilities of life make you feel overwhelmed and cause anxiety, sadness, anger and isolation. You feel tired and unmotivated, but continue pressing on for yourself and those around you. You may feel as if you are just going through the motions. You tell yourself that if you can just get through today, tomorrow or next week, you may feel better. The many losses in your life may have caused you to work and push yourself, almost as a distraction.

You have been sitting with your thoughts and seem to recycle your memories. You are excellent at suppressing your hurt and stay busy with work and life as a distraction. You no longer connect with others the way you used to and keep friends and family at a distance. The Pandemic may have increased your anxiety and depression and you are uncertain where to begin. Your worry and fear come out as; anger, sadness and controlling behaviors, due to questioning your worth and self esteem. Will I ever feel truly happy? Will I feel truly loved? Will I find my life path and the career that makes my soul soar? Will I learn to forgive?

I believe that the process a perspective client goes through to not only identify the right therapist for them, but also develop a therapeutic relationship, is daunting and difficult. Because of this, I strive to provide a psycho-therapeutic environment that is uniquely collaborative. My approach to psychotherapy reflects the individuality of the client, and also provides an opportunity to identify core difficulties, discover a means of overcoming them, and work towards a deeper self-understanding. I focus on depression, anxiety, trauma resolution, anger, substance abuse, family discord, job stress, and problems of adolescence.

I have extensive experience working with adults and youth involved in the foster care system, dealing with challenges related to abuse, loss, anger management, substance use, as well as communication and parenting issues.
Life presents all of us with challenges and difficulties. Some are obvious, some less so. Sometimes we only know that we're struggling without being able to put our finger on why that is. I don't believe you need all the answers to start your journey to overcome the obstacles that you face. The starting point is the desire to improve your relationships, family, and career. Therapy provides a supportive environment where you can learn to cope with existing distress and learn to address the needs that will help increase the quality of your life and relationships.

Therapy doesn't have to last forever but the benefits will. Most issues people face are relational in nature. There are emotions and behaviors that are problematic. These might include feelings of shame, discontentment, apathy, anger or even numbness. The behaviors might range from avoidance to compulsive and addictive. Are you experiencing problems with yourself or others? In therapy, you'll learn to be challenged and gain tools to handle difficult feelings while making decisions to do the hard work to change behaviors.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
