Support for you to process grief, trauma, and other painful situations will be provided with a problem solving focus.
My ideal client will talk about theirconcerns and ways they’ve already tried to address their issues. During the evaluation we will create a plan that will address the current situation with respect to relevant history. As we evaluate patterns we can work to understand and reprocess any traumatic memories. Together we can build a connection based on trust and honesty. Your confidence will improve as we practice using creative tools and new skills. As you move forward, sessions can be scheduled at comfortable intervals to provide ongoing, affordable support for as long as you need.

Creating a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment for you to process your experiences, explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and try new ways to thinking and behaving is my goal as your treatment provider. Therapy should be a space of trust and a space to grow without concerns of criticism, shame, or guilt. Often the quote that 'all roads lead back to trauma' comes to my mind, we all have our own shaping experiences. I believe we all benefit from a safe landing space to explore, learn, and grow from our life experiences. Let's find what gives you meaning and further grow your life to support your needs and wants.

My experience has been working with victims of severe trauma, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, psychosis, addiction/sobriety, and many in between.
Searching for a therapist can be incredibly overwhelming, especially if reaching out for the first time, have had a negative experience in therapy, or are searching for a different therapy style. How I can relieve those initial stressors of this process is by building a strong therapeutic foundation that can develop into a strong relationship to assist you in reaching your goals. I can be an outlet of security, trust, validation, support, and safety to guide and challenge you to explore thoughts, emotions, and reactions. I personalize each case and utilize different therapy styles that are fitting to you. -Christina Lees, LPC

Openings June 2024: You constantly feel overwhelmed. Despite giving it your all, you constantly feeling like you're failing. You’re tired of being filled with insecurity, self-doubt and that voice that tells you “this is all there is”. There are times you can envision a better life. You try to adopt better habits and a healthier outlook but quickly find yourself exhausted, defeated and wondering if you're just broken. While everyone around you seems to have it all together, your anxiety has you feeling grumpy, sad, impatient, and wanting to hide from everyone.

You might be asking, "How do I restore balance in my life?" In the complex dance of relationships, maintaining harmony can sometimes feel like an insurmountable challenge. Particularly in intimate relationships or within the family unit, it’s not uncommon to feel disconnected, despite your best efforts. Rekindling love, intimacy, and warmth in these relationships is within reach.

I've been counseling children and teens for over 10 years. I specialize in treating anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, difficulty managing emotions, and parenting skills. I use art and creative interventions to teach coping skills for children going through life changes such as grief and loss, divorce, and parental addiction. I involve parents in sessions to give them the tools to support their child. I help parents strengthen their relationship with their child and learn new ways to respond to their child's challenging behaviors. I offer a safe and warm space to open up about parenting difficulties.

Know thyself. Socrates believed that self-knowledge was essential for having a good life. What does it mean to truly know yourself? How could you change your life by delving deeper into yourself? Therapy is a safe space to do such things. Life can be complicated and challenging for a myriad of reasons. My job is to help you untangle this complication and aid you in your journey towards self exploration.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
