As a therapist, I see my role as offering the nurturing environment within which individuals can better understand themselves and their lives, overcome their challenges, and discover their true potential.

With nearly 30 years of experience doing psychotherapy and with a number of treatment approaches, we can create a working partnership that will help you address whatever is impeding your emotional growth. We welcome people from all walks of life and have experience working with a wide range of issues. I provide support, insight and respect for my client's individual needs, strengths, struggles and experience. Therapy is a collaborative process. I believe that the client is an expert on their own lives whose openness and honesty is essential in healing and growing. That's why it is so important to build a strong, trusting relationship . My approach is laid back, but I will confront and challenge when necessary. I am very passionate about helping people heal, find acceptance while changing the things they can. Anna Stewart is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson University’s Couple and Family Therapy Program with a concentration in sex therapy. She is a systemically-oriented therapist who has experience working with individuals, couples, and families. She specializes in distressed couples with one or both individuals experiencing diagnoses such as depression, and anxiety. She has a background in sex education and enjoys working with teens and young adults navigating their social and romantic relationships. She also specializes in clients that are working in the food and beverage service industry, a population she is well-acquainted with.

Working at a small practice like Alternative Choices allows me to use all of my training to help a variety of clients with many types of concerns and challenges. I work with individuals, families, couples or groups, from middle school age through adulthood, to address issues related to learning disabilities, attention-deficit disorder, autism spectrum, depression, anxiety, social skills, and others. I incorporate mindfulness techniques and strategies into more conventional modes of therapy to help my clients confront, tolerate, accept, and ultimately embrace difficult emotions and moods, in order to improve the quality of their lives and relationships.

I am a licensed clinical therapist with 17 years of experience working with individuals that are dealing with a variety of circumstances, including mental health issues, life transitions, and difficulty managing stress.
