Are you or your child struggling with an anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), or related concerns? Do you or your child feel stuck and in need of a non-judgmental environment to address unhelpful behavioral patterns and/or unwanted thoughts? Are these issues impacting your or your child’s ability to engage at work, school, or in relationships? These experiences can feel very isolating and distressing, and you might be asking yourself, “where do I even begin?”

Intensive CBT treatment is a highly specialized form of concentrated and accelerated therapy that directly targets your specific anxiety using concrete tools and strategies. It is a short-term, 2-week program in which you meet 1-on-1 with a team of qualified clinicians. Prior to starting the formal 2- week treatment program, you will complete a 2-hour assessment and 1-hour treatment planning session with your assigned senior clinician to determine your clinical diagnoses, create a personalized treatment plan, and ensure that this format of treatment is a good fit for your needs. This program is designed for older adolescents (16+) and adults with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, agoraphobia, specific phobia, and social anxiety disorder.

I have extensive experience treating individuals with depression, anxiety, attention deficit disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, as well as eating disorders.
As a therapist, I provide individual, couples and family therapy to adolescents and adults. I work in a collaborative, non-judgmental manner that aims to promote positive change within a person's life. After a comprehensive assessment, I utilize a variety of approaches including psychodynamic (focused on developing insight) and cognitive behavioral (focused on understanding the thoughts and behaviors that shape experience) based on individual need. Through therapy that respects the complexities of each individual's life, I strive for my clients to develop a deep understanding of themselves that will enable long lasting growth.

Feel lost, stuck, lonely? Having a hard time coping with a recent trauma? Going through a life transition? Open to a more holistic approach to therapy? Unlike regular talk therapy sessions, which may focus on surface issues and provide short term comfort, my holistic approach dives deeper for longer-term healing. My unique approach addresses the body, mind, and soul as they are all connected in the healing process.

Worry, Anxiety, Trauma, Depression, Grief, Overwhelming Feelings, Relationship Disasters... these are but a few of the issues that may lead someone to consider a professional who can support and assist you with your core concerns. I specialize in treating the human condition from a holistic perspective, always honoring the uniqueness of each individual and respecting their way of "being" in the world. Our aim together will be to explore and find revelations, resolutions, and solutions. Using a psychoanalytic approach, we will bring to light the driving forces behind the repetitive behaviors that tend to keep us attached to repeated outcomes.

Hello/hola! My name is Piero and I am a gay, Peruvian, Spanish-speaking man who loves having ADHD and eating pizza. I deeply enjoy meeting with individuals, couples, and families, and it would be an honor to see how I can help you. I believe the most important thing in the therapeutic relationship is our connection, and that you enjoy meeting with me. You want a therapist who you look forward to seeing and who you feel comfortable and safe with, who is also willing to challenge you and help you grow. I like to be warm and friendly as well as direct and blunt, use humor when appropriate, and am comfortable talking about anything.

It feels like it’s never enough. You never have enough time. And everywhere you go you’re needed. You try to be the best at everything you do…at your job, with your home, and with your family. But you continue to feel depleted and overwhelmed with responsibility. Sometimes it feels like you’re just surviving instead of truly living.

Hi, and welcome. For many people, the decision to get help can be a difficult one. I see your visit to my profile as a sign of strength and a refusal to give up. Loneliness, the inability to enjoy life, excessive worry or fear, anxiety in social situations, unhappiness or problems in personal, professional or marital relationships, not knowing what to do personally or professionally, even substance "abuse" and PTSD are issues that are interpersonal, not biological. They can be overcome within a genuinely understanding, compassionate, active, and patient therapeutic relationship.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
