It is strange and often hard to be a human being. I walk alongside my clients amidst life's chaos to demystify each client's unique inner world. I encourage clients to get curious about their symptoms rather than to judge or condemn them. I am passionate about couples work in particular, as this is my current specialty/focus. I earned my MA in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA, where I studied dream/imaginal work & unconscious processes. My work is primarily psychodynamic & depth-oriented - striving to uncover what has been forgotten, digging deep, & viewing all parts of self as valuable

I come to private practice with a background in trauma, attachment, development, and identity, including an ongoing affiliation with the Cutchins Children’s Clinic. As a therapist, I partner with you to make sense of your story. Through this work, we often discover together that what’s happening for you in the present makes perfect sense given what you’ve lived through so far and the forces that have shaped you. With this understanding, you can more easily access softness toward yourself and others, and even find other ways of being.

We all deserve to live a life that brings us happiness and joy. There are bumps in the road and sometimes we need help navigating the terrain. I have dedicated my life to supporting people and their journeys. Our lives are made up of “right nows”, we cannot change our past, nor predict our future, what we can do is stay in the moment and embrace what comes next.

Experiencing emotional pain, worry about the future, and feeling stuck are common human conditions. Through therapy you can find new ways to change and relate differently to your feelings, thoughts, and actions. It is possible to live the life you’d like to live, and our work together can bring you closer to that. I provide a warm, supportive, collaborative and non-judgmental space where it is possible not only to reduce mental health symptomatology, but also to enhance the quality of your life through engagement in valued living. I offer both structured, time-limited treatment, and more exploratory, supportive work.

Morning Availability Only - I believe people possess intrinsic strength and inner wisdom, leading them to identify solutions for their lives. However, trauma, stress, and other problems sometimes get in the way of coping with the day-to-day of life's demands. As challenges arise, so does the need for support. As a therapist, I aim to help individuals and couples improve their relationship with themselves and each other. I enjoy helping clients through dilemmas such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, sexual identity, and relational ruptures.

I view therapy as a process of deepening awareness of your experience and patterns in order to access greater authenticity and vitality in your life. I serve as a guide in examining your inner world with curiosity and compassion. This exploration—and the intimacy with yourself that emerges—brings with it the capacity to open more fully to life with its ever-changing realities.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
