Humanistic Family Psychiatry & Addiction Treatment is a Sole Psychiatric/Addiction Treatment Practice located on the South Shore of Long Island. As a practitioner, I provide an integrative humanistic approach caring for children, adolescent, adults suffering from mental health issues as well as provide addiction treatment to those who suffer from substance abuse disorders. I treat each individual according to the whole person not just a diagnosis. I address persons mind, body and spirit. My mission is to return a person to their optimal health & assist one to live a happy, healthier & fulfilled life. Holistic approach used for treatment as well.

I am an ivy league trained psychiatrist who is double board certified in adult and forensic psychiatry. I provide psychotherapy (talk therapy) and/or psychopharmacology (medication) to high functioning adults. Conditions treated in this practice include but are not limited to mood disorders, adjustment disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic illnesses, interpersonal/relationship difficulties as well as issues around trauma, grief and loss. I provide psychopharmacology, psychotherapy and guidance on life style modification aimed to improve my patients' well-being. I believe in treatment which takes into account the whole person with their psychiatric, psychological, social and spiritual issues. I use the eclectic approach, which combines elements of different kinds of treatment such as Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal and Supportive Therapy. I am a board-certified Family Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have worked in the healthcare field for over 34-years. In 2008, I returned to Upstate Medical University and was a graduate of the first program that was offered at Upstate for Family Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. I am very passionate about mental health and assisting others to understand their own mental health needs. I work closely with my clients to assist them in understanding their diagnosis, treatments available for their diagnosis and setting up a plan that will meet their needs best.

I am a board-certified family psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner specializing in female health psychiatry, male health, and adolescent psychiatry. My focus is on health promotion during life transitions such as pregnancy, and childbirth, for both females and males, as well as changes in schools and college admissions for teenagers and adolescents. In my practice, I prioritize establishing a therapeutic partnership built on mutual respect, trust, and self-reflection. My goal is to support and guide you in strengthening and developing skills to navigate current challenges, gain insight into your past, and move to the future.

Dr. Gamer's private practice goal is to provide help by strengthening patient's mental health via individualized treatment including intense psychotherapy and, if needed, medications. She specializes in depression, anxiety, uneven mood, Bipolar Disorder, psychosis, ADHD, and eating disorders. She is the creator of the adult inpatient Women's Reproductive Mental Health Program at King's County Hospital.

I am double board certified psychiatrist specializing in numerous psychiatric disorders as well as addiction disorders. I completed training at St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital, Columbia and a specialty in Addiction at Beth Israel Hospital. For many years I was the Associate Director of the Psychiatric Emergency Department at Kings County Hospital and later became the Director of Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. I have lectured about the many forms of addiction at conferences and participated in Grand Rounds for hospitals, discussing addiction and eating disorders.I am on the medical faculty at SUNY Downstate Hospital providing guidance, teaching and mentoring for psychiatric residents.

Dolores Joseph is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Dolores earned her doctorate at New York University, specializing in psychopharmacology for mood and anxiety disorders, attentional issues, and enhancing wellness. Dolores has a treatment philosophy geared towards helping all of her clients maximize their potential in all spheres of life (personal, professional, and creative). She provides a customized approach individualized for each client. Dolores focuses on the individual as a whole to promote life satisfaction.
