I love working with children, teens, young adults, and members of the LGBTQ+ community who are experiencing perfectionism, faith transitions, eating disorders, and body image issues.
Giving ourselves permission to feel is the first step towards being kind to our minds. Therapy is for everyone. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, sad, or confused, you are not alone. My goal is to create a space that is welcoming and non-judgmental where you feel heard, validated, and safe. Together, we can celebrate your authenticity and find empowerment for a life full of meaning. I have training in experiential therapy and trauma-informed yoga and am passionate about mind-body connection, art therapy, sandtray, play therapy, intuitive eating, body-neutrality, gender-affirming care and more.

Here's what you'll get from participating in a therapy group, which is incredibly beneficial. You'll receive support in a non-judgmental setting where all individuals can share experiences, reduce isolation, and gain essential coping skills. This safe space encourages you to learn to accept and love yourself for who you are, improve your mental health, and build and strengthen healthy relationships with family, friends, and loved ones. Moreover, it empowers members and provides opportunities for personal growth.

I also enjoy working with the LGBTQ+ community.
I enjoy working with adults and teenagers. I especially enjoy working with couples. My journey is unique, just like yours is but there are a lot of similarities that we can draw from in the healing process. Using the skills I've discovered myself and the tools I've learned I want to help you realize there's hope no matter what's going on in your life.

Jen opened her private practice in the fall of 2020 and has since created an online space for client-centered healing. In addition, she has created a space for trusted colleagues to offer their specialty services to their communities. Check her website regularly to see who is currently working with her and what they offer. These clinicians will have a unique specialty and will not be accepting insurance as a form of payment. Cash rates are listed on Psychology Today. Call or email to schedule an appointment with Jen or any of the clinicians currently practicing at Healing Journey Utah.

I am a member of the LGBTQ Affirmative Therapists Guild of Utah and WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health).
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works from a humanistic approach through a trauma informed perspective. This means I recognize how your past experiences impact you each day, and that trauma may have shattered your concept of self, other people, or the world. I will work to help you change how you experience emotions, instead of just eliminating or reducing them.

Clients who come in ready to work on themselves are leaps and bounds ahead of clients who might be dragging their feet in coming to therapy. If you are ready to change and personally motivated, your progress will be quick and you will get a lot out of the therapeutic process. Brief, solution focused therapy is often the most helpful depending on the client, but my intention is always to start where each individual client is at and work to assist them in their goals and desires for change based on their own strengths.

Is your teen struggling with their sense of self or gender identity? Studies show that the lack of support and dehumanization within the LGBTQIA+ youth community is one of the leading causes of mental health issues. If your teenager needs a space to feel safe and connected, this group is for them! In this space, we will focus on identity, gender expression, transitions, grief, mental health, and much more. We will be doing activities that cultivate connection, compassion, and support in a space that is free from bias and criticism. Excited to have you join in our safe space!

You might be convinced there is something wrong with you. Your relationship with food and your body is a constant struggle. You find yourself stuck in cycles of restriction and guilt, thinking, “is this how it’s really supposed to be”? I can assure you - we can heal these patterns that are keeping you stuck. At Modern Eve, we understand that it’s not you that’s broken – it’s the diet culture that is. You restrict and watch what you eat all day, only to find yourself saying fúck it and eating all the food you were told was "bad" at night. It’s time to mend your relationship with food and your body, and you’ve come to the right place.

Focusing on helping you feel safe and understood, while also pushing you to view aspects of life in different ways. We firmly believe that the most growth occurs when you step outside of your comfort zones just enough to discover who you truly are. We believe that life is for laughing, and we do not underestimate the power that humor has in the therapy room. Combining empathy with humor is to create a space where you can tap into your own strengths for change.

The phoenix is a mythical bird that has appeared in many traditions and cultures. It has been known for the power to be reborn and regenerate from the ashes making it a symbol of renewal. Our nervous system, from brain to body, can do something similar by a process known as neuroplasticity. Our brain cells can each have anywhere from 10-10,000 brain cell connections. Not only can new brain cells be created but we can develop, regulate, and integrate those connections in more helpful ways through evidence-based treatments. Like a healing phoenix, you can learn to heal, regenerate, and help others do the same.
