Newid pronounced "Nowed" is Welsh for change. I chose this name not only to reflect my heritage but also to reflect that change is the only constant in life. We all travel with it, yet all our experiences can be profoundly different. I believe that counselling is a collaborative process in which we work together on what you want to change or explore in a safe non-judgemental environment. I offer an integrative approach where we work side-by-side to understand your past and help you discover new ways of coping and moving forward. I recognise that courage is not fearless and making the 1st step can be challenging in it's self.

I trained as a psychotherapist later in life following a previous career working with vulnerable individuals. Coupled with my now extensive psychotherapeutic training, I am a knowledgeable, conscientious and empathetic individual whom is well respected within the field.

As an Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I have undergone extensive training which brings together effective contemporary approaches to therapy, drawing from a variety of models to suit your individual needs. I have over sixteen years experience supporting adults and young people to address a range of issues, including: anxiety/panic, depression, stress, loss and bereavement, identity issues, sexuality, trauma/abuse, low self-esteem, relationship issues, life transitions and careers and life direction. Many people come to therapy needing support but not being sure how therapy can help. Life may have become difficult to cope with or feel unhappily limited. You may be seeking to understand why things are the way they are; you may be uncertain about what changes are needed, or your capacity to make them; perhaps you just need to talk to someone not directly involved in your situation. My approach is designed to meet all of these concerns, beginning with supportive listening, facilitating insight into your situation, and ultimately supporting you to grow and nurture your inner resources to meet the challenges you face.

Therapy is an option you might like to consider if you are experiencing difficulties in your life. It can help you think and feel through difficult personal questions, take stock of your life and address the issues that are making life difficult. Gaining a clearer appreciation and understanding of a problem is the first step on the road to making changes. At The AoC Trust we really want to support families needing emotional help; couples trying to save their relationship or an individual looking for professional counselling/therapy in order to work through and heal psychological or social difficulties. If you cannot travel to us we can support you via telephone or video call. We are based in Central Dudley just a few minutes from the town centre and local bus station where we have our own lovely therapeutic rooms and training spaces and provide a fantastic team of registered and qualified therapeutic clinicians.

My ideal client is one of complexity; I plan on to enrol onto a Doctorate becoming a counselling psychologist. I am a qualified counsellor and my knowledge base started 15 years ago when I fell ill. I have had an eventful life, including heart problems, strokes and many other issues. Through therapies, self help and determination I am happy with my life and I would love to share my knowledge. I have specialised in complex bereavement over the past 6 years seeing clients face to face and supporting them through the hard times. There is a need for more LGBT counsellors that understand and help.
