I bring skills from a mixture of counselling approaches including, person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT – preferring to use whichever approach seems appropriate in any given situation.
Life can be a bit of a rollercoaster of highs and lows, a kaleidoscope, if you like, of colours in ever-changing patterns. At times, we need others to help identify what is there, perhaps working together on changing patterns that are less helpful, turning broken glass fragments into something beautiful, discovering healing and hope along the way. If you would like me to join you for a while on your life journey, then please do feel free to contact me.

We need therapy at certain stages in our life to help us process feelings and thoughts - it can provide a way to manage difficult emotions and talk about ourselves in a confidential space away from loved ones and friends. My background is in Person-Centred and Existential Counselling, and I’ve been helping people since 2004. Over the years, I’ve incorporated various theories and practices into my approach, allowing me to offer a personalised, humanistic therapeutic experience. I work with individuals and couples online using Teams or Zoom.

Life is tough, with situations we never believed we would find ourselves in and despite all our efforts we can end up confused about what to do for the best. The longer our confusion continues the worse we feel about our lives and our ability to make positive decisions and make lasting changes . Its a downward spiral that can make us say and do things we regret but we have no idea how to change it all and take back control . We look to others for guidance because inside we feel powerless and can’t trust our judgement and we have lost our sense of peace and happiness.

Sometimes it is difficult to take the time to notice what is happening to ourselves in relation to others and we need someone who knows nothing about us and holds no judgements, in order to look honestly at what is going on. If you decide to come along for counselling you will be given the space to really explore and learn a lot more about what you do and, possibly where it comes from. We can look at old familiar patterns you use and explore how to support yourself in more healthier ways. Please also check out my website www.romsey-counsellor.co.uk for more information.

As a relational humanistic psychotherapist, I specialise in creating a warm and safe, non-judgmental and empathic space where clients are able to explore any difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are getting in the way of healthy living, gaining insight into how to go forward. Oftentimes having suffered a significant life event such as a loss or bereavement, perhaps a divorce or other confusing relationship issues in the distant past, we become blocked, needing effective strategies and techniques to continue. I work online (during Covid lockdowns) by telephone or face to face, in both short and long term settings.
