Navigating any sudden change in your life can heighten your emotions. Are you experiencing higher normal levels of.......frustration, stress, sadness, fear and feelings of loss & uncertainty. Have you had relationship changes, life changes or lost dreams? Grief is the pain that accompanies loss. Because it is a reflection of what we love, it can feel all-encompassing. Grief is not limited to the people we love who have died. We grieve when we have lost, something or things that we value. Loss entails that a part of you, a piece of your life, has died. Grieving the life you imagined for yourself, your future, even your present.

In my practice, I support clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, grief, ADHD, OCD, burnout, and trauma. I also offer assessment and diagnostic services. Life can be hard sometimes, and my clients often tell me that they have so much going on in their lives that they're struggling to manage their emotions. Many of my clients identify themselves as being helpers, caregivers, and empaths and are having a hard time finding balance in their lives. If you're tired of managing alone and want to find some peace or clarity in your life, or simply want to feel better emotionally, you've come to the right place.

Would you like to change your life? Are you unsure what that means, or afraid of what it entails? Change can be scary, but you don’t have to do it alone. People describe me as someone who is warm, authentic, and accepting. My desire for you is that you don’t just manage symptoms, but you are able to get to the root of issues, find healing there, and experience deep, transformational, and lasting change – change that is not based on willpower but change that is felt, experienced, and real. In working with me, you may feel relief, find peace, begin to hope again, and start to live and enjoy life in a way you didn’t think was possible.

With attention, I get to know you, your values and beliefs, and this allows us to develop the approach that is tailored to you, your life, your future.

Have you been struggling to find counselling support? Or perhaps you don't know where to start. I understand just how challenging and overwhelming it can be to find a therapist that is a good fit. I firmly believe it is an integral part of the counselling process. I work predominantly with individuals (adults and seniors) in areas such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, self-esteem, body image, communication and relationship concerns, life transitions, retirement, loneliness, and empty nesting.

Experienced Ph.D. level registered psychologist, practicing in Calgary since 1987. I enjoy helping motivated individuals in therapy. I combine clinical training with personal authenticity and sensitivity to diversity and socialization influences on how we handle what we are facing. Effective therapy is collaborative and empowering, with therapist and clients working together to make positive changes towards the clients' goals. This may involve learning to self-soothe, anti-depressant behaviours, and homework between sessions. Good therapy builds on strengths.

I believe in personalizing and customizing treatments plans to meet the needs of the individual client, rather than trying to fit all clients into one or two psychotherapy modes. I work in partnership with clients to assist them in prioritizing and exploring their issues, in a safe, positive, environment. Treatment plans are flexible, evolving with the needs of the individual person. Appointment times and dates are also very flexible, with evening appointments available as needed.

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
