Imagine what it would be like to better manage your stress and anxiety , feel more confident, improve your mood, become more productive, maintain healthy habits and improve your relationships with family and friends.
Are you or your child/teen feeling stressed, anxious, depressed, or burned out? Would you like to change unhealthy habits, improve your relationships, self-esteem, and communication skills? Are you having difficulty adapting to a new environment/life transition? Today's fast-paced society can be difficult to survive and thrive in, especially if you are juggling multiple roles or experiencing life transitions, such as changing careers or starting life in a new city/country. It can be scary to reach out to a therapist because you want to make sure that you find someone who can speak your language and really connect with you.

If you’re living with anxiety , depression, grief, or stress, I am here to support you. It can be extremely challenging - both within ourselves and in our most important relationships – to develop intimacy, connect, and communicate in a way that is aligned with our core values and true needs. You don’t need to do this alone. My clinical practice can offer you a non-judgemental space to explore issues and develop pragmatic skill-building to address underlying needs. Together we can identify your core values and priorities, and tailor a corresponding treatment plan.

I believe that suffering can become an opportunity to better know yourself as well as your needs. I find this citation from Leonard Cohen particularly representative of my vision of psychotherapy ''There is crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.'' I offer individual therapy for adults in English and French. I can help with difficulties such as depression, anxiety , life transitions, burnout, existential issues (death, loneliness, meaning of life, life choices, etc.), relational difficulties, self-esteem and emotional regulation.

Working with you as an individual, I can help in the areas of depression, anxiety , low self-esteem, anger, grief, and emotional or relational challenges with important others.
I have over 25 years experience, and extensive training specializing in therapy with people whose relationships have become places of fear, insecurity, and loneliness, where bonds of emotional safety, trust and intimacy have gradually eroded. I offer a short-term, emotionally focused approach (EFT) that's scientifically proven and highly successful in creating greater closeness, a way back to the heart of your relationship. When the connection that you'd hoped to depend on forever seems lost, replaced by distance and confusion, I can help you rekindle intimacy and compassion, a secure bond you can depend on even in hard times.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
