Life is unpredictable and everchanging as are we. The stresses and barriers of day-to-day life as well as unexpected challenges stretch our resources and drain our resilience. Taking time for ourselves to reflect, renew, and grow becomes an even harder task when supports are low. I strive to offer a safe, non-judgemental environment to discuss difficulties, provide an empathetic ear, and explore concerns through a variety of therapeutic modalities that are uniquely tailored to you. I believe that each person has the strength and ability for personal growth and can affect change in their life.

Perhaps you're here because you're feeling stuck and unsure, navigating a significant life event like trauma or illness or struggling with a sense of loss and searching for meaning. It could be that you're seeking support due to the overwhelming weight of stress, burnout, or anxiety. Maybe you're feeling alone and experiencing unresolved issues with a loved one or simply not feeling like yourself. You're yearning for change and believe what I believe – that things can get better. After all, we face challenges and sometimes lose our way - it's a natural part of being human. The magic lies in how we find our way back.

Overcoming traumatic experiences and life's challenges, I understand how difficult it can be to seek help and share the depths of your pain with another person. I deeply respect and empathize with those who take this courageous step. My focus is to honor each client’s pace and readiness for change. I work best with clients who are interested in their inner world and, despite their pain, are committed to deepening their self-understanding. I primarily use a humanistic and existential approach, which centers on processing life’s pivotal moments and challenges.

Are you looking for a confidential and non-judgmental space to vent or problem solve? I believe that everyone has a sense of autonomy and resilience, and sometimes a supportive environment is needed to reinforce those strengths that are within each one of us. I view the therapeutic process according to the client-centered framework, which places empathy and unconditional positive regard at the forefront. I combine this humanistic approach with cognitive techniques from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing.

I draw on humanistic, person-centred, existential, and other therapies, and a belief in the importance of collaborative process.
It is possible to find resilience and meaningful new paths - even with difficulties such as anxious or depressed feelings, crises with relationship, LGBTQIA2S+ issues, and coming to terms with aging, loss, and grief. I care that women find ways to go out into the world to fulfill themselves, that being queer is defined by the story of self, and that those who are older continue to explore self-growth and self-development.

I draw from various humanistic and evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and attachment theories.
Accepting new clients starting April 2024 - I recognize that it takes a lot of courage to make the first step to reach out, and for that, I congratulate you. In working together, I invite you to discover yourself, empower you to process any wounded parts of your past, reach your goals, in a safe, secure and non-judgmental space. Through my work as a crisis counsellor, I have had the opportunity of working with survivors of Intimate-Partner Violence, complex grief and trauma, and tragic circumstances, in addition to providing support to first responders.

Some of the modalities that I enjoy using within a session, include but are not limited to: trauma informed, spirituality informed, narrative approach, humanistic stance, existential, experiential and ego state work (inner child/teen work).
Everyone has the ability to heal, grow, learn, deepen the understanding of who they are and gain knowledge on the impacts of the world around them - sometimes they just need a safe space to allow this to unfold as they figure it out. I am here to offer a safe, confidential space with a holistic approach to support your needs and allow you to discover or uncover ways to navigate what you ante going through and perhaps more.

Humanistic Counsellors

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualisation and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
