As a humanistic therapist, I believe that all people are inherently good and deserving of respect. There is so much stigma and shame in our culture around the very characteristics that make us uniquely human. I'm passionate about helping adults on their journey toward healing after trauma and exploring the intricacies of their identities. With a background in psychology and counseling, I am dedicated to creating a safe and empathic space for self-exploration, growth, and liberation. We could be a good fit to work together if you are looking to connect with your inner wisdom to live an authentic life that aligns with your values.

Or you have a good idea what and where you want to be… but just don’t know what changes to make to get there? Are you struggling with feelings of depression or anxiety? I am rooted in humanistic therapies and informed by current research.
I offer counselling to self-identifying women, men, and folks who are gender non-conforming. I seek to provide a space of authenticity, safety and groundedness where clients feel safe to explore their inner experiences. I believe each person has the capability to heal and warrants having someone with them on the journey through the exploration and discovery of their authentic self.

I use a Humanistic-Experiential approach which fosters openness to life’s possibilities, inner connection and self-expression.
Finding a balance between our own needs and the expectations of others can be a difficult task. Factors like trauma, anxiety, depression, or relationship issues can make it even more challenging to stay true to ourselves. If you're experiencing doubts, low self-esteem, shame, or simply looking to understand yourself better and live more authentically, I'm here for you. Together, we can work towards finding a renewed sense of understanding, connection, and direction in your life.

My therapeutic orientation is existential-humanistic but I do employ other methods like SFT, CBT, OEI, and EMDR (details about what these are on my website) when my client needs something different.
Do you feel distressed but don't understand why? Have you tried different methods and it only helped a little but never get ahead? Have you ever wondered what the core issue is? Working with me might find you those answers. A lot of people ask who gets counselling, I believe that anyone who experiences stress could get a therapist; however, many have amazing family and friends that allow them to bounce ideas, inspire motivation, and provides insight so counselling really isn't needed. Most people wait till they are in crisis to get help which would mean a rough journey to baseline. Let's be preventative rather than reactionary.

I work with women who are ready to commit to a deep & conscious spiritual process of healing & transformation. Whether wanting to recover from trauma, feeling lost inside, depressed, anxious, empty, I am committed to supporting your journey. Convinced that no healing happens if body is not involved, my approach weaves somatic therapy, EMDR & cyclical awareness from a humanistic & client centred stance and keeps developing as I keep deepening my research in the areas of trauma, attachment theory, ancestral legacies of trauma & energy healing.

My overriding clinical orientation honours the mindbody connection, neurobiology, somatic, experiential, psychodynamic, existential-humanistic approaches, and the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual nature of our lives.
Recovery from pain is possible. Let's start together from understanding YOUR pain and creating a path to wellness that is unique for YOU. I am fascinated by the brain and body connection and the immense possibilities that arise when we open ourselves to learning and understanding how various psychoneurobiological mechanisms work, how our environments and circumstances have shaped us and continue to do so, and how we can harness the power of that understanding towards change. Studies indicate that many chronic pain conditions are often not the result of structural causes, but of psychoneurobiological processes that can be reversed.

I view the counselling space as an opportunity to re-remember what you already know. I come into the space with the belief that we are all born with everything we need. It is through trauma, adversity, oppression, systems of power and various other life-experiences that close the doors to our inner world of knowing. Just as our bodies are able to heal from physical wounds, I believe we are also capable of healing our emotional wounds when we are able to access the innate Self. Accessing Self energy can heal our more vulnerable & wounded parts. Holding space for you to turn your greatest wounds into your greatest gifts.

Humanistic Counsellors

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualisation and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
