I work to assist people with exploring their experiences regarding anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss. I practice from a strength-based, trauma-informed, and client-centred approach. I offer therapeutic space for challenging stories and emotions to be expressed, witnessed, released, and healed. I emphasize the connection between physical, mental, social, and cultural principles in an individual's overall wellbeing.

At some point in our lives, we all go through struggles: grief, depression, anxiety, addictions, job loss, relationship breakdowns, trauma. Eventually, we reach the point where we need to heal and grow - to answer the questions, "What does this all mean? Who am I? What is my purpose? How can I be happy? How can I live in harmony with others and with the planet?" Irvin Yalom said, "It's the relationship that heals:" You bring your life experience and I bring a gentle, authentic and non-judgmental presence based in deep listening; together, we will build a relationship that fosters your healing and growth.

I am licensed, registered, and insured to provide support for children, youth, and adults, and specialize in the treatment of Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, and BPD. If you need strategies/ support with Addiction, Trauma, Loss, Grief, and life/situational/behavior concerns, let’s talk. When it's no longer true to wholly say, "I'm fine," or, "It is what it is," and when try this and have you thought of that suggestions aren't enough; it's a good time to connect to find solutions and support. If things have been done or said to you that have hurt you, you can heal. If you are fed up, exhausted, and tired, you can find the way through.

As a trauma-focused and relational therapist, my goal is to help you feel empowered and in control of your life, to reduce the impact of all the losses you have faced, and to help you lead a life that feels meaningful.
Life transitions and expectations can be overwhelming. Maybe you are wearing many hats and feel like you've lost yourself balancing everyone else's needs. Or perhaps the losses you have faced are so heavy that it feels almost impossible to take the next step. I have over a decade of experience supporting individuals and families from diverse backgrounds who face challenges with relationships, grief or parenting. My experience includes supporting first and second-generation immigrants and mixed-raced individuals from a cross-cultural lens that addresses Identity, belonging, and intergenerational healing.

Finding the right therapist is hard. Therapy is hard. Being vulnerable with a stranger is hard! That is why one of my main focuses in therapy is to create an environment of authenticity and empathy - this means that you are going to see me for who I am and I hope this helps you to be comfortable being you! In therapy together, we will work to embrace the authentic you and learn how to be bold moving forward, in whatever that means for you. You are a valuable human being and I will accept you just as you are.

Hey! I'm Christopher, a Registered Provisional Psychologist. I work with teens, adults, couples and families dealing with a variety of concerns. I value flexibility, a deep connection and fun. I strive to meet you wherever you are in life's journey, whether that's diving deep and wading in the dark or if you're feeling stuck and need to untangle the mess. I aim to listen wholeheartedly and offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be authentic. Lastly, I believe the journey is about progress (no matter how small) over perfection, which can be made a lot smoother when we are able to exhale and share a few laughs along the way.

Do you find yourself feeling confused or frustrated about your behaviors in relationships? Do you keep making the same mistakes or feel overly dependent on your partner for reassurance and attention? Do you notice that you struggle to trust your partner fully, or feel anxious and jealous when you're apart? Maybe you get really focused on your partner and feel panicked or afraid if there’s any distance or boundaries between you. Have you been told you come across as needy or clingy, and does this make it hard for you to keep close relationships? Does any of this sound familiar to you?

Hi, I’m Allison and I’m glad you are here. Life can throw a lot of curveballs our way. Some days it can feel as though we are drowning in life stressors and caught in worrying spirals or experiencing task paralysis. Other days may feel doable but then a trauma trigger hits us, and we get stopped in our tracks. A counselling relationship can help us navigate through overwhelming and difficult life circumstances. Reaching out for help is hard but with a little bit of discomfort comes change and growth!

If therapy, to you, means digging in deep and healing all parts of you - we may be a good fit! As a therapist, I believe that struggles and challenges are all a part of life. This is what makes us human! But we were never meant to struggle alone. You may be looking to address and process past wounds that are still impacting you today. Or, you may be searching for ways to deal with the messiness of life and learn to thrive rather than just survive. Maybe you're hoping to grow and evolve, by gaining skills your future self will thank you for. Either way, I will meet you where you're at and work with you towards healing.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
