People see you as the one who has it all together, but deep down you feel like something is missing, you have feelings of shame and thoughts like "I'm not good enough". You're tired, over-worked, overwhelmed and anxious much of the time. Putting up this facade is taking a toll on your emotional health. Constantly striving to do it all is exhausting and not fulfilling for you.

For more information on how we do individual, couple, or family therapy, feel free to view our website.
Accepting New Clients: In-Person & Phone/Video. We believe that there is good in every person, and hope in every situation. We have helped individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and connect. As relational therapists, we appreciate the impact that our relationships have on our well-being. We do not see clients as having something wrong with their minds that necessarily needs to be fixed. Rather, we see our clients as unique individuals, each with their own stories and perspectives, embedded in important relationships and contexts that impact them. We see strengths and we see hope, even when it feels like there is none.

My extensive clinical experience includes Hincks Dellcrest, York University, Catholic Family Services.
Do you wish things were different? I work with diverse clients facing life's transitions and challenges. My theoretical framework is relational, using both talk therapy and/or creative/expressive arts modalities. Following your lead, I listen/witness and attune carefully in order to attend to your specific need. We start with where you are most comfortable, which means that talking, imagery, dreamwork and silence are all welcome. Although I work flexibly between short term talk therapy (psychodynamic psychotherapy) and expressive/creative arts, we safely build our relationship, while co-creating in our therapeutic studio space.

My focus of my practice is that of relationship counselling. Relationship to self, others and the world is extremely important for healthy living. I see children, teens, individuals, couples, and families. We offer: anger management, domestic violence, relapse prevention, weight loss, anxiety, depression, conflict resolution, trauma resolution and Christian counselling programs.

I draw from evidence based approaches including Internal Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
I am passionate about therapy as I have witnessed the freedom, growth, and empowerment it can provide. I believe having a compassionate witness to our lives is inherently healing and it is an honour to be a part of this process. Our work together can help you to make sense of recurring feelings, behaviours, and experiences, and establish new ways of relating to self and others with an increased sense of connection. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I hold an MA in Counselling and Spirituality with a specialization in couples therapy, as well as a BA in Psychology.

My relationship first practice pulls from AEDP (level 1), acceptance and commitment therapy, and internal family systems that work toward building a greater understanding of the self and finding a way forward.
Our environments - current, historical, and structural - shape who we are and the stories we tell ourselves. Challenging relationships, unsupportive environments, along with life transitions and stressors can impact your sense of self, how you view the world, and the path you walk. To those around us, this may present as anxiety, low mood, lack of motivation, anger/irritability, isolation from people and activities of interest. Within ourselves, this may present as feelings of stress, shame, guilt, and resentment towards the stories that make up our life thus far.

I draw from various theories such as AEDP, Emotion-focused (EFT) and Internal Family System (IFS) and provide you with different tools and perspectives to make the intolerable, tolerable.
Every client has the capacity to experience change in their lives. As we navigate the ups and downs of life, we can find ourselves feeling stuck and unsure which direction to take. I encourage clients to draw from their strengths as a source of empowerment and resilience. I encourage curiosity, vulnerability and self-compassion. Trust and respect are important in the therapeutic process and I welcome all parts of self clients wish to give a voice to during our time together.

My drive and motivation comes from my family and friends, I enjoy rock climbing, playing board games, and reading fiction novels, and am happiest when I'm sharing a meal with a loved one.
I believe that every human deserves to have their story seen, heard, and understood. This can be especially important in our busy world where it can be difficult to take the time to slow down and truly listen. Life can be complex and unpredictable, so I care about providing an inclusive, safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable sharing your journey with me. I believe that you are the expert of your own life, and it would be my deepest privilege to walk alongside you while we work together to overcome obstacles and navigate where you would like to go next.

You are a middle-aged adult with a family and a full-time job. Things seem to be ok on the surface, but deep down you have an exhausting feeling of disconnect from life (loss of interest in any activities, feeling emotionally numb, losing sense of direction in life). Anxiety and stress is taking you away from enjoying your life. You have a very low sense of self-worth and always highly negative towards yourself. You are very sensitive to criticism, can become triggered easily, often snap at kids and loved ones. You wish to change the way you feel about yourself and others, get a sense of connection and zest for life.

You’re a giver, and you put in 1000% to care for everyone around you. On the surface, everyone seems to love you, and you seem to have it all. But underneath all that, you feel a sense of loneliness. If only they knew...after another day of work, feeling exhausted, with still another 20 items on your to-do list. Weekends, running errands for your parents, supporting your partner, your friends, volunteering for your community...tasks and responsibilities upon tasks and responsibilities. And you wonder to yourself, is this the rest of your life? Among a sea of friends, family, and acquaintances, why do you feel so alone?

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
