We utilize many therapy methods at our hospital, including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and 12-Step groups.
North Tampa Behavioral Health, located in Wesley Chapel, Florida, provides acute inpatient treatment for adults and seniors age 18 and older who are struggling with depression, suicidal ideation, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. We also treat adults who have addictions to alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids. This level of care is a short-term treatment option for people who are in crisis and need immediate stabilization before transitioning to a lower level of care. Upon admission, patients meet with a member of our medical staff for a comprehensive assessment. Throughout treatment, patients can receive basic medical care and daily medication management services. Patients take part in multiple group therapy sessions every day. These sessions offer an opportunity for patients to have discussions with their peers and receive encouragement from compassionate professionals. The typical length of stay in our inpatient program is five to 10 days, but each patient’s individual progress and treatment goals determine their actual length of stay.

At Beachside Recovery Interventions + Consulting, we focus on and value exhibiting two main treatment characteristics - clinical competency and ethics. In addition to these two very important qualities we feel any practice should possess, we value the human condition. By this we mean that in addition to our education and degrees, we acknowledge our own human experiences that have molded us into who we are as people and practitioners. Empathy, compassion, and emotional resilience are three important qualities which all of our therapists possess and act as essential pillars to our therapeutic approach. In addition to traditional therapeutic orientations, we employ unique and creative therapeutic approaches including, but not limited to, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), surf therapy, animal assisted therapy, music therapy, bibliotherapy, cinema therapy, and art therapy. During their stay, their treatment may include medication management services, basic medical care, detoxification, group therapy, and family therapy. Our team works closely with each patient to explain the benefits and purpose of each service. Each patient receives a comprehensive aftercare plan at the conclusion of treatment that contains resources, follow-up information, and ongoing care suggestions to support their continued progress.

Diverse curriculum focusing on psychoeducation, relapse prevention, wellness, resiliency, interpersonal relationships, and evidenced-based skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and trauma-focused care.
At KEBT, our goal is to engender change in the lives of our clients, their families, and the community who are suffering from the pain of active addiction. Utilizing an evidence-based curriculum, our Intensive Outpatient Program guides clients toward radical acceptance of their disease, thus opening the doors to long-term maintenance of sobriety. At KEBT, we do not believe in a “One Glove Fits All” mentality. We adopt a person-centered approach, meaning our clients’ values and preferences will guide their care. Additionally, we provide clients with skills and resources to build their recovery program.

Our clinical team is therapeutically rooted in the Neuro Affective Relational Model (NARM), while also integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodrama, Mindfulness and Experiential based approaches.
We treat adolescent and young adult males ages 15-24, suffering with substance use disorder, co-occuring disorders, complex developmental trauma, PTSD, and more. While we are a primary substance use facility, we focus on root causes; treating the individual and meeting them where they're at, with a large emphasis on the family system. Our treatment model is client-centered, focusing on developing tools for individuals to grow and maintain their own mental health, sobriety and emotional wellbeing. Our community environment enables our young adult population to develop both personal accountability skills and the leadership skills necessary to be accountable to others and also provide support for their fellows. At each phase, clinical services include group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, medical supervision, case management, and academic support services.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Treatment Centers

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
