I am a clinical health psychologist with a specialty in behavioral medicine and am dedicated to empowering patients to positively heal their mind, body and spirit. I have received specialty training in mind body medicine across the country, including through Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Hospital and University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. I imploy innovative practices: EMDR, hypnosis, and meditation, to improve the lives of her patients.

I am a licensed psychologist, registered nurse and certified in hypnosis. I received a doctorate in psychology from Marquette University in 1992 and Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing form the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1986. I have 30 years combined experience helping individuals with physical and emotional problems. My specialized training includes extensive experience utilizing hypnosis (200 hrs. of training) in my practice, certification in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) at Level 11 and treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and area of special training and the focus of my doctoral dissertation.

When I meet a new client, they usually come in having a great mentality, a ton of resilience, & have reasonable expectations about life. However, they still feel unwell emotionally or physically. I often hear people say: "My life is pretty good, I don't know why I feel this way..." Whether it's anxiety, depression, obsessiveness, low confidence, relationship issues, intrusive thoughts or compulsive behaviors: Despite their best efforts, they're hurting, or acting in ways they don't understand. The issue isn't simply in thinking, mindset, or not having a positive-enough perspective. Emotional disruption happens at a deeper level.

Human beings are delightfully resilient creatures. People may experience pain, yet be determined to work through and move beyond it. Often a balanced approach is helpful, developing practical strategies as well as identifying underlying issues contributing to your present-day problems. We love to collaborate with clients to help them draw from their own expertise, build on their own positive values, discover their own skills, and use these new tools to work through conflicts and hardships. We are systems therapist. What that means is: we like to approach problems that people have within the context of social, political and cultural storylines that influence the way we view ourselves and our own personal stories. We use this same approach in family therapy to seek ways to change the way the family system works rather than trying to "fix" a specific family member.
