The majority of clients come to therapy with a problem that’s somehow rooted in relationships, past or present. People's trauma doesn’t usually come from a car accident or natural disaster—somewhere along the line it comes from relationships, either with some other person or group of people. My ideal clients believe their life is not where they want it to be, even if they don’t necessarily know how or why. The things that my ideal clients believe about their experience are what cause misperceptions about who they are and what they’re worth—which keep them from really truly connecting to other people.

Being a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) means that I incorporate many facets of your life into therapy. Often people think that MFTs only work with couples and families, while we do often work a lot with these clients, we also work with individuals and bring our systemic approach to therapy with them as well. Personally, it just makes sense to me to take into account all of the different systems you are connected to as I work to help you be where you want to be. I have thirty years experience in private practice. My background is primarily in philosophy, dialogue and self-inquiry, in ‘ontology’(what has to do with being a self), in religious and spiritual traditions, and transpersonal psychology. I regard teachings that see human problems and suffering as part of our conscious development as more accurate and more helpful than disorder-based theories prevalent in modern medicine and modern psychology. They are more effective because they help us see the source of our problems with a depth that enables us to grow towards the health and fulfillment we innately long for.
