I am here to help someone who wants help and wants to get better. These two goals are necessary to make the therapeutic relationship worthwhile. I'm not just here to help those who have been diagnosed with something like depression or anxiety or bipolar disorder. I have been privileged to also work with clients who have negative experiences as African Americans, negative experiences as women, negative experiences as part of the LGBTQ+ community, or negative experiences connected to exploring alternative spiritualities. Hi there, I'm Lisa Olivia Gibbs LPC, Master in Clinical Mental Health. My mission is to provide, protect, and treat others in with love and respect and positively inspire their desire to believe in themselves. I put emphasis on building a positive and trusting relationship with each client through providing a safe therapeutic environment in which the client is able to process and ultimately reveal that which is broken.

My clinical work integrates psychology, theology, and spirituality. I consider my counseling to be a ministry first. However, treatments will also include empirically based techniques and skill-building. I am a Level 1 and Level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I also work with Trauma Focused Couples Counseling, Grief Therapy, and Dysfunctional family issues. I serve both Georgia and Virginia via video/phone sessions only.

I am a psychotherapist licensed in North Carolina and Virginia. In my career I have worked mainly in an in-office outpatient setting but recently I had a traveling position providing psychotherapy services to seniors in assisted living and nursing facilities along the east coast of NC. I have also had the opportunity to work in a school-based setting as well as in a juvenile residential treatment facility.

Working in the mental health field for 20 years has been a joyous journey for me. I am always awed at the power and value of the human spirit that facilitate change and healing. I celebrate every step of courage to face life's challenges and "choose joy". I have also learned that incorporating concepts borrowed from the family systems theory and personality theory create greater depth into one's practice of insight into daily life functioning. I am a trauma-informed and strengths-based counselor. I utilize cognitive-behavioral techniques, focusing on my clients' self-concept, goals, and resilience.
