I am a postdoctoral fellow in clinical psychology and a disabled military veteran. I have significant experience identifying and treating mental health illnesses of different severity. I have a clinical background working with individuals and families in the LGBTQ+ community, diverse minority groups, people from various socioeconomic backgrounds, and various kinds of relationships (i.e., monogamy, consensual non-monogamy, open relationships, polyamory, etc.).

My passion is to identify the root cause of distress and resolve those issues that may be preventing you from experiencing life fully. I provide counseling services for adults experiencing a crisis, recent trauma, or on-going distress, while others may seek personal growth and development. Treatment is customized to meet your individual goals and unique needs.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and counselor supervisor with over 14 years of clinical experience. I work with adult individuals, adolescents, children, couples and families, using a variety of therapeutic techniques. I have vast experience working with issues related to trauma, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, anger management, mood disorders, anxiety, employment and work place problems, and grief.

My client population includes children, adolescents and adults. I work with individuals as well as families. I facilitate numerous groups and skills training curriculum in various topics including adolescent first offenders, anger management, divorce and separation, parenting, and teen issues.

I am currently offering both telehealth options via a phone or video session, as well as in person counseling. I work with clients of all ages, from those under 12 who need play therapy to those who may be retired. I love the variety of all ages! I see clients struggling with depression, anxiety, anger issues, grief, marital issues, and a number of others. You deserve to live a meaningful and fulfilling life, not just surviving day to day. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor whose foundation is Christian-based. As a professional, I am here to listen, counsel, and guide others into a healthier mindset and to chose positive choices. Having been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1999, I have counseled numerous clients with a variety of issues. Depression, anxiety, poor coping skills, cognitive distortions, social skills issues, parenting problems, marriage conflicts, divorce, parental alienation, abuse, low self-esteem, and codependency are areas of expertise. I counsel children and teens. Having been a school teacher, I help parents create a loving home.

My greatest strength is empathy, the ability to put myself in the shoes of my client to understand what they are feeling. Every brain is as unique as DNA, which means problems can present differently in people and can be triggered by different issues. I work with all ages, from children with ADHD to senior citizens with cognitive decline. Sometimes the client needs to build a toolbox, and other times, we can teach the brain new ways of processing information. Sandhya Sharma is a South Asian Indian LPC and certified addictions specialist who works with: Adults, Teens, LGBTQ community, and International Communities. Sandhya will help create a safe and supportive therapy environment and work with you collaboratively to both accurately assess your strengths as well as areas of struggle. She will develop a treatment plan with you to help you facilitate behavioral changes that more successfully meet your goals. Sandhya will help you look at the ways you have been currently coping with life’s problems and help you to develop new strategies from a strengths-based perspective.
