My passion is treating clients who have endured trauma. I'm trained in EMDR. I combine EMDR with narrative therapy to help clients resolve and reprocess the traumatic event. I love working with clients who suffer from depression, bipolar, and personality disorders. I also work with couples and families who are in crisis. I am also endorsed by the American Psychotherapy Association as a Board Certified Professional Counselor.

Founder of Family & Youth Institute, I am a licensed professional counselor and counselor intern supervisor. I also hold a doctorate in educational leadership and am a certified school counselor. Dedicated to helping people live the best life possible, I believe individuals/families can resolve their own problems, make healthy choices, and build a good life with the appropriate tools and skills. I have provided mental health services for 11 years and my clients have ranged from ages 3-90 years old. It is my joy to work with individuals of any age whose challenges may range from clinical diagnosis to daily life stressors. I believe in change and in the possibility of modifying habits. I am now accepting new clients! I wake up every morning excited to work with people in psychotherapy. When I think about helping people, I believe that establishing a good therapeutic relationship and giving clients a voice is what helps them the most. I also believe that good listening is the main component of establishing a therapeutic relationship with clients. Although I consider myself as eclectic, I like to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-based approaches to help my clients. With that said, I’m open to client feedback and what works best for them.

For over 20 years in the Clear Lake, Baytown and Galveston areas, Ms. Layne, has provided child( ages 6+), adolescent, adult, couples, and family therapy. She has provided trauma-recovery, cognitive behavioral, behavior modification, and insight oriented therapy, to survivors of sex, physical, emotional abuse and other life changing events. Ms. Layne has extensive experience working in juvenile justice systems, and under the guidance of psychiatrists, and psychologists providing assessments, crisis, short, and longer term therapy services.
