As your psychologist, we will first spend time understanding each other, the situation, and then devise a plan of action to help you accomplish your goals. Then, we will work to develop & hone a set of strategies & skills, based on scientific research, that will help you to create the life that you want. Along the way we will trouble shoot, enhance, and customize your treatment to who you are & your history as a person.

Each person I meet is treated as an individual whether they are a tough as nails Police Officer learning how to cope with trauma, or a stay at home parent learning how to balance their day to day.
Feeling stuck? Frustrated? Like a burden? Struggling to stay focused? You don't have to do this alone! I see individuals 18+ in their search for balance with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, adjustment disorders (starting college, to getting out of prison, to retirement), anger, and much more. A large focus of my experience has been around those in jobs/situations with stigma that is high around mental health, and high stress (military/ veterans, first responders, flight crews, frontline medical personnel). Let's break the stigma that asking for help is weakness!

I specialize in treating stress, trauma, and PTSD in first responders.
My counseling philosophy is based on the belief that we all want/need to feel accepted for who we are in order to accept and integrate the various parts of ourselves. I draw from various therapy methods, throughout the process, depending on the individual client's needs. It is my goal to provide a safe space, free of judgment or criticism, in which clients feel comfortable exposing and exploring their innermost thoughts and feelings. I view the counseling process as a collaborative effort between client and counselor and believe it is most successful when both parties are fully committed.

I am a licensed clinician who has experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, OCD, and bipolar. I believe that from our birth we begin building an image of who we are, how relationships should function, and how the world works around us. For many of us, adverse experiences in life can lead to difficulty managing stress or daily functioning as we get older. We may need help processing our lived experiences and understanding how they have effected our decision making and the struggles we face today. I believe that, by focusing on the present and applying the past, we can discover both our goals and our strengths.

From my experiences working with people who struggle with addiction and helping both adults and teens process their trauma, I've seen that most of us were never really taught healthy ways to cope with painful feelings and experiences in life.
I view my role as someone who provides a safe environment where clients can learn more about themselves and process without fear of judgement. Whether you have specific goals in mind for therapy or are just wanting to dive into some self-exploration, it's incredibly rewarding for me to help you get to those "aha!" moments that can lead to positive changes in your life. I believe that good therapy is a collaborative process, and I feel honored when clients allow me to help them work through difficult emotions and process traumatic experiences.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
