Specialties include anxiety, trauma , and parenting.
I work with children, adults and families. Individual experiences as well as experiences in a family system are unique. There are times in our lives that difficulties arise and unexpected life changes can leave us with feelings of hurt, stress, grief, anxiety, depression, and more. Counseling is a powerful tool that can help us understand, cope, and move forward in ways that are productive, purposeful and meaningful. Seeking counsel is a brave and powerful choice. It often brings great comfort knowing that you are absolutely welcomed into the process of counseling and that you do not have to walk through your experiences alone.

I work with clients who have experienced relational trauma , including betrayal trauma , sex addiction, infidelity, divorce, grief, and loss.
My approach is one of curiosity, compassion, and with the understanding that every situation is unique and requires a personalized approach. I believe there are no free passes to skip out on the struggle that comes with being human. Sometimes stress, betrayal, or overwhelm can knock us off balance and it's hard to find solid ground. I also believe joy can be found in creating safe and satisfying relationships, building self-trust and confidence, and finding peace and comfort in living a more whole, authentic life.

I specialize in marriage counseling, trauma , and abuse. Marriage is hard work. Trauma is devastating. Abuse is scarring. I also work with teenagers and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, and a variety of other issues. My goal is to help my clients reach their goals! I believe the purpose of therapy is not for clients to depend on therapy, but for therapy to be a tool to aid in the process of renewing, healing, and refreshing in a healthy time frame, so that clients no longer need therapy. Start the journey to renewal and healing today - I’d love to help! (If client desires, biblical counseling is available).

I specialize in trauma recovery, and I am EMDR Certified through EMDRIA.
In this world there is indeed trouble, darkness, violence, and loss. Looking for the light and meaning in it all can seem hopeless. When you feel that you have lost your way or true self altogether trying to fight it alone, I am here to help you seek the truth and be transformed by the renewal of your mind. It is my desire to help clients identify the messages they believe, often subconsciously, beneath the rhythms of daily life. These messages are often memory-informed and can interrupt our relationships, thought process, bodies, daily functioning, and self perception.

I utilize a trauma informed, culturally sensitive approach that builds off the strengths in you and your community.
I am here to help those who are struggling to enjoy life, whether that is due to depression, anxiety, stress, trauma , relational distress, or life adjustments. Together we can discover the changes that will bring you peace, strength, and healing. It is important to me that you feel safe and understood. My goal is to help you understand how your life experiences have shaped the way you think and feel and how you relate to others. This insight can be used to challenge false beliefs you have created about yourself and the world. We cannot always control our circumstances, but we can learn to be secure within ourselves.

Unresolved emotional pain, or trauma leads us to believe things about ourselves that simply are not true.
Life isn’t what you thought it would be. You thought you’d be happier and more fulfilled by now. You feel overwhelmed often, sleep doesn’t come easy even though your days start early. You doubt yourself and your ability to do what you’d really like to do, to feel the way you’d really like to feel. You know life can be better, but you feel STUCK and scared. You wish someone could explain why everything feels so painful, hard, and scary even while your life looks pretty good on the surface.

Each person I meet is treated as an individual whether they are a tough as nails Police Officer learning how to cope with trauma , or a stay at home parent learning how to cope with parenting.
Let's take the first step together. My philosophy with clients is to meet them where they are at. I see teenagers 16+, and adults, with heavy experience with Veterans, First Responders, Pilots and Flight Crew, and Frontline Medical Personnel in their search for balance with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma , adjustment disorders (starting college, to getting out of prison, to retirement), anger, and much more. My work has mainly focused around those in jobs/situations with high stigma and high stress which has afforded me an understanding into minimally supported populations, where many times help is not asked for.

I have specialized training and extensive experience dealing with grief, loss, past abuse and trauma .
Wounded lives, grieving hearts and past emotional scars do not have to become a permanent part of your future. Individuals or couples may feel "stuck" in the midst of personal life struggles such as grief, self-esteem, relationships, job-related stress or the ongoing impact of past abuse. My collaborative empowerment approach, using Cognitive Behavior (CBT) with a mixture of Transactional Analysis (TA) and eclectic techniques, focuses on actively engaging clients. It "provides guidance through life's storms" offering hope and healing in a warm, non-judgmental environment. Counseling is about finding the freedom to write a future you choose to embrace.

I work with young adolescents to older adults struggling with addictions, experiencing anxiety, depression, distress, life changes, trauma related symptoms/ PTSD , identity issues, negative self-talk, marital/relationship and workplace conflict issues, My style is collaborative, supportive, and compassionate.
I have been married for 14 years and have three adult stepchildren, a granddaughter and son-in-law. (Our family also includes three fur babies, a cat and two grand dogs) The spirit of family is something that has grown and valued over the years. We have found beauty in a family unit that now includes an extended family of exes and in-laws to celebrate holidays and special events. My life experiences have given me insight and perspective that allow me to make unique connections with my clients. I learned that during times when we feel defeated, it does not mean we are unable to change the outcome or quality of life in the future.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
