Therapy can feel intimidating, especially in the beginning. I believe it's vital to build a collaborative and authentic relationship with all of my clients. In treatment, I primarily utilize a Gestalt theoretical perspective, which focuses on increasing clients’ awareness and self-understanding, so they are better able to navigate life’s difficulties in ways that feel genuine to them. I also enjoy integrating mindfulness techniques into work with clients of all ages. My specialties include anxiety, trauma, relational and attachment concerns, and parenting.

My response was that change is constant. In today's ever changing world, we are all challenged to adapt. Traditional talk therapy doesn't always give us the results we want, especially when working with trauma. I work best with clients who prefer a direct approach and have been trying to heal from trauma for a prolonged period of time without a lot of results. I found that spirituality is an important part of the trauma healing process. To me, spirituality looks like connecting with nature and the earth and expands beyond the traditional perspectives. Trauma often comes with addictions and I do not take the abstinence-only perspective on addiction and tend to emphasize harm reduction as an alternative.

We all have our ups and downs, and sometimes life can feel really harsh when we least expect it. Thoughts and memories from your past may be intruding into your current life. You may not feel safe leaving the house due to anxiety or debilitating depression. In therapy, you will learn to stop the panic, stop the racing thoughts, feel less sad, and process the parts of your past that continue to affect you today. We work collaboratively with individuals, drawing on techniques, like EMDR, to assist you in moving beyond the symptoms of your struggles to uncover the underlying causes of “stuckness” or suffering.
