I believe that healing occurs within the therapeutic relationship and I aim to create a safe and supportive space that nurtures self-growth. As a dance/ movement therapist I prioritize a compassionate and holistic approach that utilizes the mind/ body connection to empower lasting change. I incorporate elements of creative expression, mindfulness, body-awareness, and education regarding symptomatology, along with traditional talk therapy to provide a client- centered approach focused on each individual's needs.

I am a licensed independent social worker who practices in Massachusetts. I have been in the field for over thirty years and have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse backgrounds (varying by race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic background). I work to create a safe space for my clients to express themselves, share their life stories, process experiences, and learn useful coping skills.

For over 30 years I've been helping people overcome obstacles that seem insurmountable. I have special expertise in the treatment of anxiety, depression, addiction, and emotional issues related to physical illness. My dual background in Public Health and Social Work enables me to help people who have both psychological and health issues. I'm a strong advocate for family, peer and community support when acceptable to my clients.

Using an integrative approach, we will develop a clear articulation of your problem and a clear plan to get more out of life. We will use techniques addressing anxiety, depression, sexual issues, ineffective communication, self-defeating patterns, feelings of hopeless or sadness. I have advanced training and years of experience helping those with substance abuse problems as well as identifying and dealing with the underlying issues that may drive the behaviors. Addictions often go hand in hand with other mental illnesses such as depression, trauma, anxiety, ADHD and bipolar illness. I also have advanced training in ADHD. My methods are non-judgmental and generally holistic, but I know enough about medications to be able to recommend when they may be needed. Life can lead us anywhere and it is my mission to make that a happier place for us all.

My professional orientation is client-centered and problem solving/solution focused – integrating cognitive and family systems approaches. My services offered include brief treatment, intermittent treatment, longer term treatment, individual, couples, and family therapy. Referral problems typically include mood disorders, relationship problems, parenting problems, family adjustment problems, trauma and abuse issues, anxiety disorders, loss and bereavement issues, marital issues and post-divorce adjustment, and adolescent behavior problems.

Jamie Bruce provides individual and family therapy, specializing in working with pre-teens, adolescents, young adults and women of all ages. Jamie also enjoys working with the older population and has worked specifically with these individuals who have chronic illnesses, their family members, and any mental health issues that may arise from chronic pain and medical diagnoses. Jamie is also a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist. Jamie has over 3 decades of experience and has fine-tuned her skills as an empathetic listener who is able to help individuals and families struggling with a wide range of difficulties.

Young adults, Women, and Caregivers – of color, with a sense of humor are likely to benefit from counseling with Marquise. She enthusiastically supports her clients on their journey of diving deeper within to discover new ways to navigate through life challenges. Marquise applies modalities of motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy to therapy with individuals and groups.
