Helping people to deepen their understanding of themselves and to use their native strengths to more successfully welcome life’s challenges is my focus. You may be experiencing a life crisis that is taxing your capacity to cope, and you are suffering from anxiety, depression and other signs of emotional distress. You may be a foreign national overwhelmed by issues you are facing and unsure who will understand and be able to help. I have over 35 years of experience as a psychologist, some of it abroad, working with people from varied cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds toward improving their lives.

I have a concentration of clients among college age students, and young adults. I specialize in eating disorders, and related issues. I also have a strong background in the performing arts, and see a significant number of creative clients. For twelve years I worked in a college counseling center. This has afforded me the opportunity to work with students who struggle with the concerns of people in their late teens, early twenties: depression; anxiety; ADD; OCD; substance abuse (as well as the more common issues surrounding living away from home, roommates, academic rigor, awaking sexual identity, etc.)

I work with individuals coping with stressful life situations, problematic behaviors, and difficult emotions. I am skilled and experienced in supporting those struggling with ADHD, anger, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and trauma.

If you need direction and support solving a disturbing problem or managing an emotional state, I know that addressing this need quickly is important. I will meet with you within two to three days of your call. My approach to therapy is to focus initially on solving the problem in partnership with you quickly and efficiently. If this does not bring sufficient relief, I invite my clients into a longer deeper process of understanding the situation and its complexities. I encourage the use of communicating via email between sessions. I have evening and Saturday hours available to insure accessibility

For over 30 years I've been helping people overcome obstacles that seem insurmountable. I have special expertise in the treatment of anxiety, depression, addiction, and emotional issues related to physical illness. My dual background in Public Health and Social Work enables me to help people who have both psychological and health issues. I'm a strong advocate for family, peer and community support when acceptable to my clients.

I believe that healing occurs within the therapeutic relationship and I aim to create a safe and supportive space that nurtures self-growth. As a dance/ movement therapist I prioritize a compassionate and holistic approach that utilizes the mind/ body connection to empower lasting change. I incorporate elements of creative expression, mindfulness, body-awareness, and education regarding symptomatology, along with traditional talk therapy to provide a client- centered approach focused on each individual's needs.

Young adulthood can be difficult; their personalities change and you fear that they might not overcome their challenges. Not only do I work with teens, but also adults who are experiencing life transitions, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and family issues. It can be nerve-racking to reach out to a counselor because you want to ensure you find someone who you can truly connect with. I have a clinician who joined the team who will offer services to teens, young adults and adults.
