My experience includes trauma, substance abuse, anxiety, faith navigation, depression, along with stress and coping.
Life has everything in it, but you only see what your perception allows you to see. You are the main character in your story, which is why I take a person-centered approach to counseling. There, of course, is a reason for the feelings you have in the here and now, such as trauma, etc. Working through those hurdles and finding your light again is my primary purpose. Healing the body, mind, and spirit together helps create you into the person you desire to be. As a person-centered counselor, I focus on how the client experiences life and, through that, facilitates therapeutic change. Now providing LENS Neurofeedback!

Immediate Availability- Life can be challenging and because of this we are not meant to go through it alone. You might be working through a lifetime of depression and anxiety, recovering from past trauma, learning to create healthy boundaries, or healing from infidelity. These topics can be heavy to process and sometimes we need somebody to walk through the darkness with us. If you can relate to this, then you are in the right place. There is hope and light ahead. I will work with you from a non judgmental place to help you better understand your trials and move toward a better, more fulfilling life.

I specialize in treating trauma and I enjoy working with those who are ready for the change that comes with healing.
We all have times in life when we feel stuck and don't know how to get unstuck. It can feel hopeless, frustrating, and demoralizing especially when you try to do it out on your own. It's okay to seek extra support so that you can figure out what you need to move forward in life in a way that you can feel good about.

Life is full of challenges that bring both joy and pain. There are times when painful experiences such as loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, addictions, transitions, relationships and more can leave us feeling lost, overwhelmed, and even hopeless. When we experience such difficulties, it is necessary to reach out and connect with others who can help us feel heard, empathize with our pain, and help us learn and grow. If you are needing this kind of connection, I can help you discover your inner strength and build resilience for coping with such difficulties.

I work with a little of everything but my passion is trauma.
“And the time came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom,” Anaïs Nin. This is one of my favorite quotes. I feel that it accurately describes where a lot of us get to in our lives. Change can be scary and uncomfortable. Being vulnerable and opening up to a stranger can seem daunting. I believe the risk to end our pain/suffering is worth it. I am honored to help anyone that is ready to risk and gain the life they want. I strive to make my office a safe place where people can be themselves without having to filter, apologize, or be embarrassed.

Life is too short to surrender to letting adversity, trauma, bad relationships, grudges etc... control us; or be anxious/angry all the time. With over 10 years as a clinician, military veteran and retired law enforcement officer, I have been fortunate to be trusted in working with individuals, couples and families as they find answers, healing, understanding or resolve through painful and desperate situations. Empowering them to create resilience and healing in the rest of their story.

Many individuals feel they are “NOT Enough". It is difficult to keep going each day, keeping a smile on your face, telling everyone you are o.k. when you are not. You may just need someone to listen, someone to help you learn new skills, someone to help you through a difficult time in your life who understands and provides support, listens and understanding. Dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and other mental health challenges can keep us from participating in life fully and enjoying time with our friends and family.

I am experienced in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, self-worth issues, perfectionism, and borderline personality disorder.
I believe that despite life’s challenges, and often because of them, every individual has their own unique capabilities and strengths. Every individual has worth and purpose. Our own difficult life circumstances or misperceptions can sometimes mask these truths, but I seek to help my clients remember and internalize them. Hope and healing can be found by drawing on the strengths within!

I realize coming to therapy can be difficult. Thus, my therapy office is a safe and nonjudgmental place. I value EMDR’s effectiveness in providing results. I also value working with children. Other mental health populations I work with include trauma, anxiety, depression, loss, eating disorders, geriatric issues, TBI, and more. I am committed to helping my clients process their trauma and progress on their healing journey, and I understand the complicated nature of family dynamics. I work hard to ensure that all family members feel supported in the treatment process.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
