My counseling focus is Marriage and Relationship counseling as well as depression and anxiety. I believe our core problems tend to stem from our desire to be validated and loved by others. When we do not feel worthy, "good enough" or loved we engage in self-protective behaviors (fight or flee), pain comes to the surface and we experience hurt, anger, anxiety and other destructive emotions.

Waybridge Counseling is a group practice of specialists who provide treatment for a variety of concerns. Our specialists work in teams and this is a critical element of our success. Each team meets regularly for ongoing training and consultation in the team's specialty. We believe that this significantly increases the quality of counseling we offer.

Different people need different things at different times in their lives. For the most part, my style is person-centered, which feels more like two friends talking. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Supervisor. As a trauma informed certified therapist, my counseling style is warm, empathetic, honest, and direct. I am a gender-affirming therapist specializing in working with those in a life transition, struggling with their identity, or looking to evolve from the way they were raised. In couples counseling, I work with monogamous, open/poly, and kink relationships.

Our counselors provide couples counseling for intimacy concerns, infidelity, high conflict, and communication problems. We provide couples retreats, couples counseling with co-therapists, and traditional couples therapy in-office and virtually.

Life is too long to remain unhappy and too short to have continued regrets. During a session, my intention is to assist the client in utilizing their strengths to help them solve their struggles. I offer as much insight as needed while helping the client resolve their concerns and develop healthy coping strategies. I typically start out asking questions that help me get to know you and learn what your concerns are and future sessions consist of coping strategies, acknowledging trauma, learning how to process what has happened, and how to accept future possibilities.

As an openly gay man I also focus on providing support to gay, bisexual and transgender men though my practice is open to everyone.

I have many years of experience working with early childhood trauma and severe, persistent mental illness, varying from ages of 5 years to 70+. My goal is to empower and advocate for positive change within you, as the individual, and the system as a whole. The place that we will create together is a safe and judgement free space. I work through an Existential foundation, to help those I work with seek meaning and purpose, with skills built from experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, all within the context of a trauma-informed approach.

Although it is scary to acknowledge our pain and reach out for help, doing so is also a sign of strength and courage. I believe people do the best they can with what they have.
