I help people work through difficult experiences so that they can live a more full and hopeful life. My approach to therapy is very relational and I believe that through the therapeutic relationship, one can begin to heal old wounds. I am trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), which helps in processing and changing the way one thinks of themselves in the face of traumatic events.

I have worked with individuals and couples who are seeking support and guidance to overcome challenges in their day to day life. They may be experiencing a range of symptoms such as constant worry, low mood, lack of motivation, difficulty communicating, or challenges concentrating. Recognizing the importance of their mental health, client is motivated and committed to actively engaging in therapy to improve their overall well-being. Their needs include a safe and non-judgmental environment where they can openly discuss their thoughts and feelings. They seek validation and understanding, as well as practical techniques.

It is a privilege to offer support and walk with individuals and families who are affected by the struggles of daily life such as anxiety and depression, or those who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect. I enjoy working with individuals with chronic pain or medical conditions, and believe in the importance of collaborative care. I understand the struggles of parenting and balancing family life, and am willing to walk alongside parents who desire stronger family connections. I am passionate about suicide prevention and awareness, and am available to provide presentations in the field of suicide prevention, assessment, and treatment.

I consider it a privilege to be able to come along side an individual or couple in their journey towards healing. As a therapist, I value creating and holding a nonjudgemental, confidential and safe space to allow for healing and growth. There are many reasons someone might seek therapy. Therapy can help navigate life transitions, treat mental health concerns, address trauma and be a place of support. I believe that expanding self awareness through personal reflection can increase self agency, confidence and relational satisfaction.

New Location - As of April 22nd, 2024 I take pride in helping clients find clarity in the expected, unexpected and everything in between. As we travel through life we all face times that are emotionally difficult and it can be extremely powerful to take the lead in getting back on track. I believe Forrest Gump said it best when he stated "Life is like a box of chocolates"-as life can be sweet and enjoyable; but it can also be bitter and painful. It can definitely send us on emotional roller coaster rides that are not fun. My approach to working with mental health is to meet people where they are and provide individualized care. It's about building and fostering relationships for growth. Similar to the analogy of chocolates, I believe every individual is unique and present with their own life experiences. Thus, there is no one size fits all, & mental health does not fit in a box.

I achieve this relationship through a non-judgmental, gentle demeanor, and compassionate approach. My passion is working with people who may feel overlooked, forgotten, or left out. I love working with a variety of clients through the lifespan; with those needing support, help finding life purpose, and strengthening communication and relationships. I am also passionate about serving Autistic individuals, parents who have children with disabilities, adolescents, and navigating and managing positive coping skills.

Kathryn has worked with youth since 2014 in a variety of programs including residential settings, education, early childhood, and counseling centers. Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Concordia College Moorhead and a Master of Science in Counseling and Student Affairs from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She obtained her Associate of Social Work license in 2018 and is currently working towards her Licensed Professional Counselor hours in South Dakota.
