I am a licensed clinical social worker with 20+ years experience helping people with life's challenges. I believe that when experience is overwhelming we cannot integrate it into a comfortable view of ourselves or the world. Past experience informs our current understanding and influences how we feel and act. Increasing awareness of those connections frees us to to be open to new ways of feeling and being. This empowers us to make different choices in shaping our future.
I add to this perspective a present day focus on mind/body experience that increases recognizing and managing uncomfortable feelings resulting in a more mindful, accepting stance towards oneself and others. In this way, exploring, working through, and healing past experience brings greater resilience, authenticity and fulfillment to present experience.
I specialize in anxiety disorders, trauma (including PTSD), self-esteem issues, identity conflicts, and adjustment problems. I am a certified EMDR therapist (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and an SE practitioner (Somatic Experiencing) and am certified in SE Touch. I am accepted by most out-of-network insurance plans.
