I provide counseling for adults and work in finding the best solutions for the issues at hand. I treat clients throughout the lifespan. Including, young children whose only way of expressing themselves is through anger and sadness, to teenagers who are struggling to find their identity and self-worth in a world of peer pressure and expectations. My goal is to create a compassionate and non-judgmental environment in which my clients are empowered to make changes and become their most authentic selves. I have 20+ years of experience treating a variety of issues including: low self-esteem, anger management, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and life transitions. I have extensive experience treating substance dependence and recovery issues as well as co-dependency and adult children affected by addiction (ACOAs).

I have worked for over thirty years with individuals suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, Anxiety, Depression and other mental health issues. I have spent much of my practice working with children ages 3-12, teens, and adults. I have extensive knowledge and experience helping individuals and families involved in the family court system. And I am committed to helping individuals overcome obstacles that interfere with positive change and growth. I also work with individuals and couples struggling with relationship issues,as well as domestic abuse and anger management.

In life we often strive for growth, whether in school, work, family, relationships, etc. Through this journey, we are met with obstacles, detours, traumas, and, tragedies. When hit with these factors, it may be difficult to focus on your initial goal. It may be difficult to find joy, satisfaction, and excitement in the things you once did. It may cause feelings of self-doubt, low self-esteem, increased anger, guilt, shame, hopelessness, or cause family disruption, and relationship conflicts. Counseling will support in addressing these unplanned factors and help restart the process for growth.

I have worked in multiple agencies in Rhode Island with a focus and expertise in helping clients who are experiencing issues with substance abuse, sobriety, and emotional disturbance. A vast majority of my experience is with substance abuse and mental health including the residual effects from substance abuse (i.e., family of origin, relationships and work concerns). I treat people with these issues with dignity and respect in a non-judgmental environment. My expertise includes: relapse prevention, emotion regulation, coping skills, impulse control and anger management. My modes of therapy include CBT, DBT, MI and solution focused therapy. Carolyn helps treat clients, of all ages with a variety of needs. Including those with a history of trauma, anxiety, depression, anger issues, relationship issues and general daily stress. She utilizes a variety of different tools gained from her Holistic background and training as a trauma therapist, along with her extensive study in the use of hypnotherapy to address differing client symptoms.
