I've been a practicing psychotherapist in the New York City metropolitan area for over 25 years. Most of my clients are adults with relationship problems, work issues, anxiety or depression. Some have histories of trauma. My approach to therapy is generally a psychodynamic one with a focus on the here and now. I also use mindfulness, hypnosis, ego state therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy as tools in treatment. I have found that this eclectic approach is helpful to clients as one size does not fit all.

In individual psychotherapy, we look at how you are currently living and clarify what is working for you and what you want to change. A therapeutic conversation heightens awareness of your feelings, thoughts, sensations and behaviors. With my support, you learn to use your growing awareness as ground for taking experimental steps in new enlivening directions. Our therapy process leads toward resolution, change and growth. I will help you apply what you learn in therapy to your daily life. Our working relationship is important, so the first step is to meet one another. I look forward to meeting you.

I think you'll agree that there are times in your relationship when breaking up seems the only option. You've hit a wall, and you can't figure out how to get around it. Or you've made the same bad choice again, even though this time it looked so-o-o different. Or you find yourself ready to slap your child, because you've run out of other solutions. You've reached a choice point. That's when my clients come to me.

I have worked with patients struggling with emotional obstacles, family issues, serious health problems, and relationship difficulties that seemed unsolvable and recently, pandemic struggles.
To quote my patients: "Isolation STINKS" "Remote work is EH", "When will I be able to date and see my friends" If these feelings resonate, I can help you work through them and come out stronger from the experience. Concurrent with my private practice, I worked as a clinical consultant for Right Management Associates, an outplacement firm. Subsequently, I was a partner at Harris, Rothenberg Int. (HRI), a global firm that provided psychological counseling to law firms and major organizations.

Creating a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship is the first step toward understanding what's standing in the way of greater life satisfaction and emotional well-being. I am interactive and direct in challenging old patterns of viewing oneself, others, and the world so as to make room for more hopeful possibilities. I believe in exploring the impact of the past on the present, yet because insight alone is often not sufficient for bringing about change, I help clients develop the concrete tools necessary to play more productive roles in their own lives.

Thats where I come in: I have over a decade of experience specializing in therapy for anxiety, self-esteem, trauma and relationship conflicts.
You dread getting out of bed each morning- you feel like you have nothing left to give. You have fantasized about running away at least once this week. You’ve neglected your own needs, and have no time left over for non-work related needs. You haven’t seen your friends or family in weeks. You become overwhelmed when you watch the news, and spend far too much time scrolling through social media. You can’t tell if you are burnt out, depressed or anxious: or all three. You've gotten to a point where you need some help...

I have extensive expertise working with individuals struggling with: intimacy/relationship issues, eating disorders, postpartum depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, loss/trauma, and parenting issues.
As a clinical psychologist, I meet my patients exactly where they are. We work together to bring about symptom relief from the issues that have led them to therapy; to change longstanding negative patterns which continue to get in the way. The goal is to create and sustain a happier, meaningful and more fulfilling life. I have worked in many NYC hospitals including Mt. Sinai and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, as well as a fellowship at the William Alanson White Institute. Using an eclectic approach, I practice cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal and psychoanalytic techniques to tailor treatment to each individual's needs.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
