As an integrative therapist, I aim to equip clients with the tools they need to begin feeling better as quickly as possible while also helping them discover and challenge more longstanding and problematic patterns.
I strive to provide a collaborative and supportive working space for individual clients or couples with a range of presenting concerns. My clients tell me that they appreciate my warmth and practicality, as well as my willingness to provide an individualized treatment plan tailored to their specific needs. I believe that most clients' struggles-be they with depression, anxiety, attentional difficulties, or relationship issues-are born of and maintained by a range of factors. These factors may include past experiences, family history, biology, or unhelpful patterns of thinking.

The focus of my therapeutic intervention is an eclectic and integrative approach to holistic health and wellbeing.
Seeking help is the most challenging thing that most of us will ever do. Armed with life skills, information, and knowledge, we are expected to have all the right answers. Even if we have endured familial, racial, or socio-economic struggles and barriers, we hesitate to seek assistance because of our conditioning to perfection. This pressure makes it that much harder to speak with an absolute stranger and pour out all our life’s troubles. However, if that stranger is a genuine listener, makes us feel safe, and compassionately transitions us from pain to healing, it becomes easier to let that person in on our helplessness.

I am a mental health and school counselor passionate about supporting the growth of children and young adults. I am experienced with both school-age children, young adults, and adults. I have also spent a lifetime in the world of professional dance and the creative arts. My experience in dance and the body highly influences my therapeutic lens. I view integration of body and mind through multi-sensory modalities as integral to client growth. I take an integrative approach to my work; in one session we may talk, play, draw, explore the sand tray, or move. Some moments may be more directive and some may be client-led.

My holistic and integrative approach acknowledges that sometimes what happens to us in life can live in our bodies as unconscious numbness and denial and can lead to physical symptoms, mental discomfort, and spiritual emptiness.
I think of therapy as a way of freeing ourselves from the obstacles which prevent us from moving forward in our lives. Frequently these obstacles present themselves to us in the challenges of the outer world--in problems at work, in difficult relationships, in adapting to life changes, or in the sudden impact of a traumatic event. And sometimes what stands in the way of our freedom and happiness lies within us, as negative thought patterns, conflicting or confusing emotions, and unexpressed feelings--all of which can result in depression, anxiety, chronic illness, low self esteem--burdens we often carry alone.

If holistic wellness is what you seek, I endeavor to create a safe and therapeutic space that expands the possibilities for your growth through a person-centered, integrative, strength-based and solution focused approach.
Life is lived in the intersection where intentions and outcomes are determined by our actions. We are happy when our intentions match our outcomes... but when they do not, we can feel stressed, anxious, depressed, disappointed or even desperate. At such moments, it is helpful to speak to someone that can help us feel understood and find the courage to power forward.

I use an integrative approach and bring a culturally sensitive lens to my work.
I have a particular passion for working with university students and young-middle aged adults who are figuring out and navigating their next "chapter" of life. I aim to help individuals capitalize on their strengths and work with their limitations, change their responses to interpersonal problems, and help them form new and improved healthy relationships and ways of relating to their world that does not repeat previously unhealthy patterns. By bringing support, encouragement, humor, and a nonjudgmental perspective to our work together, I meet clients where they are. My goal is to make my clients feel heard, understood, and BETTER!

Integrative Therapists

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.

How does integrative therapy work?

Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.

How long does integrative therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

How effective is integrative therapy?

There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
