I help experts get out of the hamster wheel. They overcome the self-sabotages of procrastination, overeating, overdrinking, and more. My clients want a clear result, but feel stuck on doing it themselves. They've tried all the regular tips and tricks. I help them achieve the result and cheer them along on each step.

Do you have a history of childhood trauma that's affecting your present? Have you tried traditional therapies and found that you're actually feeling worse?! If you have debilitating symptoms (e.g., self-hatred, dissociation, overwhelming depression, panic, or suicidality) or intense diagnoses (CPTSD, DID, BPD) and past therapy hasn't helped, I offer a radical new take. It helps address the root causes of your struggles, not just treat the symptoms. It involves deeper, richer work that offers real and lasting change.

It’s amazing how different life can look when we shift our focus. A fresh perspective and a change of perception can go a long way for old habits and patterns of thinking. Renewing our minds is transformative! Whether this a tough season for you or you feel like you’ve been in the wilderness all of your life, change can happen. Truth be told, counseling is hard work. Showing up for yourself is hard and confronting areas you need to change is hard. Staying the same is hard…to all of that, we do our best to "choose our hard"! You don't have to do this alone! Relationship concerns? Anxiety? Depression? Divorce, etc? All of the above?

Please E-mail! Now Accepting New Clients! Oftentimes we are suffering from something traumatic and hadn't realized it. Because trauma within the Black & Brown communities has been normalized and or minimized. I’m sure phrases like “just get over it” and or “you’ll be alright” at one or many times in your life. This has been a well-known response we've heard from family members, at our jobs, or maybe even something that we've told ourselves. I believe that our family and friends mean well when they make the sentiments mentioned above. However they are missing important ways to help process, cope, and possibly heal,

You’re so exhausted you feel foggy and overwhelmed It’s like you’re in the dark, not knowing who you are or what comes next. You done everything for everyone else, but it’s all come crashing to a halt. This is not where you expected to be. You may be asking yourself, “how am I going to do this on my own? This was not part of the plan.” There are no words... You want to feel like yourself again, able to set limits with people, stand up for yourself and not only know what you want, but ask for it, and make it happen. You want to feel relaxed, confident, and in alignment with yourself and with life.

They say the only constant in life is change. But change is hard! We as humans tend to feel comfort in predictability and routine, and change (especially when sudden, unexpected, and/or tragic) inherently challenges us to sit with discomfort. Even deliberate and "happy" changes like starting a new career, getting married, journeying through gender transition, or beginning a sober lifestyle can still cause a myriad of complicated emotions as you adjust to your new life. Finding meaning in those changes while learning skills to manage the added stress is an empowering, healing, and worthwhile endeavor.

It takes courage to ask for help. If you're reading this then you’ve already taken the first step toward healing, and I applaud you for that. I am a licensed independent social worker and a licensed independent chemical dependency counselor with over 15 years of experience with individuals, couples, families, and groups from many different backgrounds and settings. I'm interested in long term, sustainable mental and emotional health. There are a lot of therapies out there that claim to be ‘the’ way, but I find that if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

Life is full of tricky philosophical puzzles: figuring out our moral, political, and religious values; having friendships, marriages, or other relationships; choosing and pursuing a career; grappling with aging and death; and many more. While traditional methods of psychology are helpful for a wide range of issues, more and more people are finding that it makes sense to turn to a philosopher to help them make progress on challenges that are genuinely philosophical. My ideal client is someone from any walk of life who wants to work on the puzzles of living and become an author of the story of their own life.

There are so many of us who have felt like outsiders our entire lives, pretending to be someone else to fit in. It might be because of Neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, CPTSD), or your body size or the traumas that have lead you to feel that no one would understand or accept who you really are. The truth is that changing to fit in isn't the solution. You deserve to accept who you are right now. You can learn more supportive ways of coping or communicating, but the essence of who you are is worthy and deserving of love.

My therapist taught me how to love myself—and by extension, my life partner, my kids, and everyone else! It is possible, no matter where you're starting from, to have less inner conflict, less outer conflict, and more love, peace, calm, and creativity in your life. And if you’re a woman with ADHD, I can help with that too. Your life doesn’t have to feel chaotic, and you don’t have to call yourself names (lazy, careless, stupid) to get things done. Whether I see you one-on-one or with an important other, I will meet you with compassion, hope, and acceptance. Because we all deserve not just to survive, but to thrive.

How can I find a therapist in Columbus?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
