People who seek therapy are the sanest of us all. They look around at their lives and they realize that they want something better and they have the courage to go out and get it.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor. I use a therapeutic inclusive approach believing there is no "one size fits all" theory. I see my primary role in the therapeutic relationship as providing a safe environment where a client can explore life issues that might be problematic, then collaborate with each client and empower them to reach their full potential.

When our lives are disrupted by unforeseen events, it's important to have support to process through emotions, move forward, and heal. I am a bilingual, Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and a retired Texas public school counselor and educator. My background includes working with adults, adolescents, and children in private practice, school, and facility settings. My treatment approach is client focused as I believe the therapist's function should be dependent upon the client and their specific needs.

As a Christian therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true God-given potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

I most enjoy working with clients who desire to play an active role in their own healing journey and at the same time are open to the creative process of how we might arrive at their goals. From my experience, clients who are curious, trusting, and honest (with me and themselves) tend to be most satisfied by therapy. More specifically, I work with clients experiencing relationship issues, anxiety, depression, OCD, life transitions, existential questions, grief, behavior issues, ADHD, and distress related to their cultural identity (religion/spirituality, sexuality, race, gender, etc.).

I see teenagers and adults and I have experience working anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, OCD, and relationship issues.
Whether it is past experiences or present circumstances that you are working through, it can be helpful to have someone walk with you on that journey. I seek to make a connection and create a relationship with clients that is built on trust, empathy, curiosity, and respect in a safe and judgement free environment. My hope is that through our time together you are able to gain further insight into who you are, gain an understanding into the nature of your difficulties, and together find ways to overcome your current struggles.

I’m Ariel Cross, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oklahoma. My goal is to help individuals who struggle with OCD, anxiety, and other difficulties so they can live a healthier, happier life. I work well with individuals who are stressed out, burned out, and have been told they’re “Overthinkers.” My approach meshes well with people who identify as highly anxious but have difficulties with managing their symptoms. I work to create a sense of safety and comfort within session. It’s my goal to be as genuine and understanding as possible to create an area where a person feels comfortable talking about difficult problems.

Our therapists have special interests in treating anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, social anxiety, selective mutism, and PTSD.
Everyone feels anxious at times. Anxiety motivates us to prepare for important events and protects us when we are in harm's way. However, anxiety becomes problematic when it is out of proportion to the situation in a way that interferes with daily activities. Though anxiety is very treatable, only about one-third of those suffering from an anxiety disorder receive treatment. With the right type of therapy, the prognosis for anxiety disorders is very good; however, without treatment, anxiety tends to become more debilitating.

I'm here to help! I'm a Licensed Psychologist and an expert in diagnosing and treating anxiety, OCD, and behavioral problems in young people (ages 3-23ish) through online therapy and parent coaching.
You’re looking for the right therapist to help. You’re overwhelmed and exhausted. The worries, what-ifs, and and wonderings are just too much to handle. You’re sick of the tears, tantrums, and terrible nights. You wish this anxiety would just leave you alone. Sometimes you think that these fears are normal, but recently school is getting harder, friendships are falling apart, and life at home is so stressful you could cry. You want to find someone who can help you, your child, or your teen to gain the confidence and flexibility to get life back on track. You might even be wondering if a diagnosis such as ADHD, ASD, or OCD fits you.

I see a variety of people about relationships (including couples), anxiety (panic, phobias, obsessive thinking, stress), depression, sudden trauma, alcohol/substances recovery and other problems.
Thanks for taking time to view my information. I try to be what I would look for in a psychologist: someone who is tactful, cares about the person, and responds with both knowledge and compassion. You will find me to be interactive. I will not sit silently or simply reflect what you just said. I will let you know my perceptions and discuss research, making suggestions on ways to feel better. I tend to focus both on your emotions and your thoughts. You will do most of the talking, but you will get a genuine reaction from me.

With experience treating Anxiety, Depression, Grief, and OCD, I have worked with Active Duty soldiers, Veterans, adults, and adolescents by using various forms of treatment to address the symptoms that they are current experiencing.
Navigating through the challenges that we experience in life can be a huge undertaking. Feelings of loneliness, hopelessness, or being misunderstood can prevent you from reaching out to someone for help, as you may feel that no one could possibly understand what you are going through. The want and need to live a happy and fulfilled life can seem so out of reach and the confusion as to why others seem to have this mastered can reinforce these thoughts. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, I am here to help you overcome these thoughts and feelings and live a life where you are not just surviving, but thriving.

If you are experiencing difficulties with anxiety, OCD, PTSD, or related conditions, I am passionate about helping you to change your life. I received my PhD & MA in clinical psychology from UT Austin, specializing in anxiety disorder research and treatment. I seek to provide a safe, warm, and affirming environment where your individual experience is validated. However, I do not believe that warmth alone is enough for competent treatment. When finding a doctor to treat a broken arm you certainly want a provider who is kind, but unfortunately even the most empathetic doctor will be ineffective if they do not know how to cast an arm!

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
