Additionally, I am a Certified Therapist in EMDR, a protocol that facilitates the healing of stress and trauma.
I enjoy working with individuals and couples across the life cycle: young adults dealing with anxiety, self-esteem issues or relationship stress in these uncertain times; couples long married and looking to enhance their relationship; and 'baby boomers' facing their own transitions while being 'sandwiched' between the needs of adult children and aging parents. I believe in our capacity for personal growth individually and in our closest relationships throughout life. In a safe, confidential environment you are invited to engage in the empowering process of therapy. My therapeutic style is warm, empathic and interactive.

Let's be honest, things have been stressful lately! And even though you know everyone is going through it, it doesn't bring you much comfort and you may even feel like you are alone with this. You may have already had a lot going on before things changed and now you have that and this compounded together. The weight of it all can get pretty heavy at times and you are trying to be the best you can with everyone around you. You put on your best straight-face and a smile but worry that you're one moment away from losing it. Imagine how great it will feel to let all that go and feel more in control and confident!

I believe that we all have inner strengths which can be used to achieve personal goals. My focus as a therapist is to establish a trusting, empathic, connection with clients through which they feel listened to, respected and understood. Together we explore patterns, thoughts, feelings, behaviors which interfere with growth and change. Within a safe, confidential, interactive environment, inner capabilities are released and more effective options discovered.

Insightful. Experienced. Knowledgeable. Reflective. The search for the right counselor can be a daunting task. When you've found the right professional, you'll know from the feelings of comfort, warmth, and welcome that envelope you. I believe we are all puppets on a string, living this life to learn better ways to love and treat each other with kindness, respect and compassion. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and I do believe it all works out in the end, however, it is impossible to do it alone. Together, we can build sessions that inspire, and encourage.

I have experience with trauma, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders.
Making the choice to begin therapy can be challenging. The task of working through your inner thoughts can seem daunting, but I would like to be on that journey with you. My approach to therapy is to allow my clients to guide their own sessions while I serve as a support. My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic and I enjoy helping people do “inner work”, which is to explore past experiences and to dig deep into their thoughts. I feel treatment should be individualized, because each person is unique in their needs.

I have had the honor of working with clients from a wide variety of cultural, racial, sexual, socioeconomic, and neurodiverse profiles who have a range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, burnout, and trauma.
It's not just you. Countless people are feeling lost, unmoored, and stuck in old patterns, and the usual/traditional "how does that make you feel?" therapy can sometimes feel lacking. With over 8 years in the mental health field, both as a Mental Health Counselor and Psychologist, I recognize that mental health is so much more than what is happening internally. My work is rooted in the belief that mental health cannot be addressed in isolation from other aspects of your life, such as your relationships, health, community, and broader social issues and systems. Tackling all this alone can feel so very daunting.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
