The longer I have worked to help people come to terms with their traumas the more I respect each individuals innate wisdom and essential resiliency to know their truths. I have trained, indeed matured as a therapist, during the era of emerging trauma treatments...all kinds. I am most interested in helping individuals unlock the transformative energies held in painful intrusive memories, but without re-traumatizing them in the present. I offer a wonderful supportive environment to support your exploration in to realms of thoughts and feelings and most importantly your contact with your own authentic experience.

The teen and pre-teen years are some of the best of a person's life. They can also be some of the most challenging. Teens are in a developmental period where distancing from the wisdom of parents is natural, but also scary. When that distance becomes more of a wedge, that's where I can help. Adolescents don't always have the ability to make good decisions for themselves AND they don't like others making those decisions for them. Therapy can be a place of connection and guidance that both children and their families are looking for.

Life's journey can be rough, but no one has to do it alone. My goal is to help clients find hope, healing, and peace while making the changes they want to see in their lives. While accomplishing this is never easy, it can be done by focusing on clients' strengths, learning self-compassion, and building a solid support system.

I've developed my skills and philosophy through years of experience helping people manage difficult periods in life, relationship trouble, grief, anxiety and depression.
The poet Mary Oliver writes, "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" This comes close to summing up my approach to life and to therapy. People who come to therapy are yearning for real growth and change, and my goal is to help them get there. I use an integrative, mindfulness-based approach to address a wide range of clients and issues. My goal is for every person who walks through my door to leave feeling more whole, hopeful, and healthy than when he or she arrived.

My experience includes private practice and work with courts, state/county divisions of child and family welfare, foster care/ adoption, high schools and colleges, My expertise extends to adolescents and adults focusing on attachment, trauma, grief and loss, anger management, adjustment to sudden life changes, depression, anxiety, and parenting.

Individualized guidance, can lead to the discovery of one’s own strengths and a gradual movement towards solutions that can be developed, in partnership, to restore that balance that we all strive to maintain when challenges leave us without answers, defeated and feeling powerless.

I help successful and driven individuals with work burnout, grief counseling, anxiety, depression, and mental health treatment for men.
You’ve been working all day, every day. You’ve earned money, titles, and all the toys. Everything was perfect until it wasn’t. You felt off. You felt anxious, angry, and frustration as your emotions got the best of you. You started snapping at people as your relationships headed down the drain. You can’t remember the last time you felt happy. You aren’t you anymore. This isn't the life you want. You want better. You want to make a change but you don't know how or who to turn to.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
