I offer EMDR Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization, a process of bilateral stimulation that activates the wisdom of the bodies to help process traumas large and small.
The longer I have worked to help people come to terms with their traumas the more I respect each individuals innate wisdom and essential resiliency to know their truths. I have trained, indeed matured as a therapist, during the era of emerging trauma treatments...all kinds. I am most interested in helping individuals unlock the transformative energies held in painful intrusive memories, but without re-traumatizing them in the present. I offer a wonderful supportive environment to support your exploration in to realms of thoughts and feelings and most importantly your contact with your own authentic experience.

You never thought Sex Work would be like this. You built this persona on screen to keep the viewers engaged and the subscriptions flowing. When the camera shuts off and everyone leaves, you feel disconnected, alone in your own body. When you first started making content, everything seemed fine; you were excited to make money. You got to hang out with some fantastic people, collaborate with others you always dreamed of, made new friends, the parties & drugs were fun. You thought this was the life; people "know you," but now, everyday when you wake up, you feel less connected to who you are. You don't even recognize yourself anymore.

I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches, but I most often draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Person-Centered, Play Therapy, and Family Systems.
Sometimes we get stuck. We’ve done everything we know to help ourselves, then comes a time when we need some extra support to figure out the rest. Counseling can be a place to gain clarity about what you're going through and learn how to be your most true and thriving self. I often support children, individuals and families struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship problems, irritability/anger, and new transitions in their lives.

Most recently, I undertook EMDR training and have used this intervention to better help those who struggle with trauma.
All the way from the desert planes of Arizona, I have made my home in the city of Reno for the past 10 years. I fell in love with the four season aesthetic as I acquired both my Bachelor's and Master's of Social Work at the University of Nevada, Reno. Outside of treatment, I have two other jobs including teaching part time at my alma mater and volunteering at my local Teamsters union supporting labor workers. Outside of work, if I am not fighting off dragons with my friends in D&D, I am either going through old cookbooks refining my chef skills or sipping tea with my family in the backyard gazing at the stars.

Are you looking for quick results and relief? Is that even possible? Yes, it is! EMDR or ART might be the right type of therapy if you are looking for effective short-term treatment. Long-term therapy can last several weeks, months, sometimes even years, often without the relief clients hope to find. Now imagine not spending an excessive amount of time and money (compared to traditional therapy) to reach your goal! Let me help you better manage your PTSD, trauma(s), anxieties, and self-confidence concerns with EMDR or ART. Want even quicker results? Consider EMDR intensive sessions, which is the speediest therapy with rapid result.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
