Healing from trauma, reclaiming power, growing from struggle and learning to work WITH emotions rather than AGAINST them are the goals I strive to support my clients in achieving. I want to help my clients move beyond simply not feeling so depressed, anxious, angry or manic. I want to help them transcend their pain, feel like they are fulfilling their purpose in life, are able to truly love themselves and are cultivating relationships that feed their soul. Narrative Therapy teaches my clients to transform the meaning of what they have been through and techniques from Existential Therapy help clients create or discover their purpose.

I believe there is opportunity for healing within the suffering we experience. Psychotherapy can be a way to turn directly toward what is happening for you and engage with how it impacts you. It is in this looking that growth and change happens, using awareness in the present moment as a way to help you understand and release the pains of the past, fears of the future, and limiting old beliefs. Together, we can support you to discover, reconnect to, use and understand your own skills and strengths. I love working with adults from diverse backgrounds who are wanting to make a change in their lives, communities, and our world.

I’m deadly curious about what you want to say but can’t, who you want to be but won’t, and what would unfold out of you if we could together tend to the parts that are hard to bear— without judgment and without a goal for what comes next. There is a reason you have been bottling up precious parts of you. We will explore that reason, that need you had to hold yourself tightly inside. It is from this safer space that you will once again look at the long-hidden precious parts of you, and together we will see how you want to unfold from here. I'm a good fit for authenticity/identity/wounds/therapists/queer folks/over-thinkers/creatives.

Hello there! Wishing you a warm welcome on this path toward healing and self-discovery. My name is Angela (she/her) and I'm an associate social worker at Diaspora Therapy Group. As a queer Filipina-Mexican therapist, I'm here to create a safe and inclusive space for folks of all intersections, with a primary focus on those at the intersections of BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+. Embracing your natural strengths, we'll work together to rediscover and reconstruct your personal narratives, nurturing trust within your body, mind, and spirit.

Transitions are hard. There is often so much shame around trying to figure out who we are and asking for what we want. Am I going to burden others? Am I too much for people if I ask for something that I desire? Am I being "selfish"? Who am I to "demand" others for things I don't think I "deserve"? If these are some of the questions you have asked yourself, then I'm here to help. It's okay to feel lost, like you're wandering the woods alone. I'm here for you so we can wander these woods together.
