Are you constantly worried and overwhelmed? Traumatic experiences often create a sense of helplessness. Finding a connection with a therapist can also be very stressful. If you struggle with anxiety and isolation. I'm a therapist who Specializes in working with clients who struggle with Anxiety and PTSD. Becoming a therapist has allowed me to meet many trauma survivors. I think the greatest honor any therapist can hope for is to witness hope and confidence be introduced to a person's life. As a therapist I focus on providing a peaceful, shame free and judgment free space. I currently offer local in person therapy sessions.

Currently, I am accepting new clients for Accelerated Resolution Therapy, ART. Let's toss out the idea of a person being ‘ideal’. I am here to help people wherever they are in life. It is an honor to journey alongside another's life as they initiate change and grow. Growth and change are often complex, I want to offer a safe palace for people to learn about themselves and thrive.

Empowered therapy for people with big feels: I offer virtual, office, and outdoor psychotherapy services that are tailored specifically for individuals who deeply experience emotions. I see children ages 8+ and adults. You or your child might be feeling out of control (such as engaging in self harm or experiencing intense anxiety), out of place (uncertain about who you are or where you belong), shame, perpetually invalidated by society or relationships, or have a loud inner critic. People are usually a good fit when they're seeking connection, interested in experiencing life outside the box, and open to embracing their unique self.

Healthy connections provide for relationships wherein we feel integrated, empowered, and validated. When these connections are damaged we can suffer physical pain, social isolation, instability and internal fragmentation. It’s at these times, a supportive advocate can assist in repairing damaged or lost connections through a therapeutic rapport. My work is done in relationship with you, exploring how stress, trauma, addiction or disease has impacted your connections and deciding which ones need to be repaired to restore balance to your life.

Self-Harming Therapists

How does therapy for self-harm work?

A person may turn to self-injury so that they can distract themselves from their stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances. Therapy can address the cause of an individual’s suffering. A therapist can help a person understand why they may want to self-harm and help the person learn new methods of coping. A person may have poor emotion regulation, and treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is helpful for breaking this behaviour. In addition, treatment such as dialectical behavior therapy can help a person manage their tolerance of distress.

Which therapies are best for self-harm?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, and mentalisation-based therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are common approaches for people who have painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual cope with distress, regulate emotions, and manage impulsive urges.

Does the tendency to self-harm mean the person is suicidal?

Having this urge does not mean the individual suffers from suicidal ideation. People who want to self-injure look to distract or alleviate themselves from the pain they are experiencing. People with suicidal tendencies want to end life altogether. However, this does not mean a person with the intent to self-harm will not attempt suicide.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for self-harm?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Clients may see improvement within 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, maybe, a six-month period. People, especially those with co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, may need to continue therapy for up to 12 to 18 months.
