I value transparency and direct communication so that everyone can make informed decisions. Sometimes we hesitate to reach out for help because we compare our experience to that of other people. It's important to recognize that our experiences are unique, as are the challenges we face. Everyone deserves to be heard and to have the opportunity for good quality of life.

Are you struggling with anxiety, processing a painful life event, or moving through a major life transition? Is it time to start putting your wellbeing first? I aspire to create a space where you feel empowered to get comfortable with the uncomfortable and take the lead in your healing, while my role is to be a partner in your process. I am dedicated to client-centered, trauma-informed care and approach my work with the belief that we grow from our painful experiences, life transitions, and challenges. We can use the awareness and strength that comes from those experiences to become who we are meant to be.

I am most proud of my ability to develop trusting relationships with clients of all ages. My training in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and Motivational Interviewing has provided me with the tools to turn theory into effective practice. My clients consistently tell me that, without ever being judgmental, I empower them to change for the better and become more self-confident, always within a safe, nurturing environment.

With 20 year's experience, I have helped clients take a deeper, more insightful look at thought and behavioral patterns that hold them back from positive relationships, fulfilling careers, and a compassionate, worthy sense of self. Anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges are often the result of suppressing our authentic voice because of fear of rejection, abandonment, and self-loathing. We rediscover our genuine, original self by leaning into our fear of rejection, letting go of false beliefs about self and developing beliefs and new behaviors that are more empowering and in line with who we really are.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
