The original roots of psychotherapy stem from tending to the soul and over time this truth has been forgotten. In collaboration, we will develop a space that honors your roots and all your experiences. We are at a very vulnerable time on the planet while also being in this place of individual and collective initiation.. Climate anxiety and climate grief are also realities today that we are all trying to navigate. Exploring and cultivating a path that illuminates all of your gifts, and strengths while seeding new ideas and opportunities.

Currently full with a waitlist; we are running some therapy groups now for those interested. Please feel free to reach out for a consult to join the waitlist or a group! I work with clients who are feeling that they are ready to get well, even if they do not know what that looks like, or even if its possible. I aim to help those who are tired of being told they need to wait to "deal with trauma". Frequently my clients tell me they have figured out how to get through the day, but they are not living their best life.

Adolescents and young people are creating a bridge for their adult future. I am passionate about guiding this process of transformation for the world’s future. I work with parents, families, children, youth, and adolescents to learn to fully live in the world and to claim a place for each individual for the whole. Gary teaches teens to meet their absolute place in the world. Together I help each adolescent move beyond stuck-ness, anxiety or uncertainty. You may be a parent struggling with your teen’s screen or gaming addiction with no solution. Left alone, it could take years - if ever – for him move to a zest for life.

Many of my patients are recovering from addictions of various sorts. Many of them, as well as other patients, have mood disorders (anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder). I also work with individuals and families struggling with problems in work and career, marriage and similar relationships, and what are often described as existential or spiritual crises--the lack of a sense of meaning and purpose in life. I involve families in therapy when possible--people don't live and learn as isolated individuals.

If you're in a crisis, stuck, or at a turning point you'd like to leverage, a personal counseling retreat is uniquely impactful. It compresses 6-12 months of therapy into a week. The impact is also in the inspiring environment, and sustained process, which allows a deep and more cohesive process. There's time to connect many small dots to a bigger picture. Time to learn, understand and practice new cognitive and behavioral skills. And to cultivate mindfulness and perspective, to practice stepping back to watch distress arise, and then, importantly, pass. You come away with a lived experience of inner resilience, in mind and body.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
