My “ideal” client is you! I welcome pretty much anyone who needs help. Psychotherapy is always about the supportive relationship between therapist and client, no matter what the specific orientation of the clinician. We can approach the issue from any number of angles. These angles, or techniques, are: whatever works. Period. Whatever brings you relief. I will work very hard for you.

I specialize in treating people with depression, anxiety, and eating disorders but also see people with an array of issues.
It takes so much courage to begin the process of change! By utilizing Dialectaical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), self-psychology and a relational approach, I believe in a model of full recovery. I also believe that you can't feel good about your self if you don't know who that SELF is. This approach tends to gives you the support necessary to help break the cycles of maladaptive behaviors and live the change you want to see in your life.

I have training and experience working with many issues such as, depression, trauma, self-esteem, eating disorders and relationship concerns.
Seeking therapy is a sign of personal strength. Often people who engage in therapy are actually doing well in life, but would like to do better in one area or another. It takes awareness in our lives and courage to be able to reach out for help. I strive to put people at ease in building the therapeutic relationship. I also greatly value individual differences and approach each client with an open-minded and non-judgmental stance. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of a successful experience in therapy.

As humans, we all have the capacity for change. Part of our work in therapy will be examining your "why" to make positive adaptations to your present day experiences that better align with your values. We will explore difficult life patterns and develop fresh perspectives over time. This gradual work requires vulnerability and I am here to listen and move in the direction of your personal breakthroughs. Join me in creating a grounded, inclusive space for reflection, transparency, and self-compassion as you learn to navigate the highs, lows, and unpredictability that life brings.

I provide clients with a safe, supportive & respectful therapy/coaching experience. I’m there to listen. They can share “stories, past, present, life stresses/transition, mental health issues, family/couples goals” etc. I build upon clients strengths as we work together to achieve their goals. As a therapist & life coach I strive to provide my clients with a positive experience. Treatment concludes with them feeling better about themselves & having met "their goals”. The passion I felt when chose this field, early on in high school, still remains:). Through challenging times I’m grateful to be here, to help those in need.

Do you often feel disconnected from your emotions? Do you have difficulty communicating needs in relationships, friendships, or in the work setting? Do people often tell you that you're self-aware, but regardless of how hard you try, you're flooded with self-criticism and nothing seems to change? If any of these questions resonate, it might be a good time to consider therapy! I believe that individuals are complex with their own unique experiences and needs. In the initial sessions with me, I take the time to get to know you and what is bringing you to therapy to best tailor the therapy to meet your needs.

I have a thoughtful, compassionate style in addressing the roots of repetitive distress, while keeping in mind that such work must also ameliorate more immediate distress.

Psychotherapy is a deeply transformative and personal process. As such, how I work with clients is dependent on their needs, personality, and level of functioning. Although I incorporate a variety of approaches into therapy, I primarily draw from the relational psychodynamic model. This orientation assumes that in order for a person to experience emotional health, she or he must maintain fulfilling and satisfying relationships with those around them, and that emotional distress often is the result of negative, past relational experiences.

Eating Disorders Therapists

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?

In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?

Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?

The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?

Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?

Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
