My clients include people who suffer with chronic pain, have sustained traumatic brain injuries, or other life changing event, and need counseling to get back to living rather than just surviving.
If you are having trouble dealing with relationship issues, or need a little help defining your direction in life, or balancing the seemingly overwhelming and endless daily stressors that lead to depression and anxiety, then I am the right person for you.

Whether you have experienced something that has turned your life upside down or if you merely want help kick starting the next stage in your life, therapy can help. Individuals recovering from difficulties related to a traumatic brain injury, stroke, depression, anxiety, and individuals having difficulty managing life decisions (relationships, kids, employment) often have one thing in common: they're searching for strength to carry on with the next step in their lives. Some don't know what the next step is, and others know exactly what needs to be done; however, something is in the way. Therapy can help you FIND YOUR WAY.

My specialties include grief and trauma, adjustment to disability, relationship issues, stroke and TBI, anxiety and depression.
Life can be wonderful, interesting, challenging but no one ever said it would be easy! Never before have we faced such a difficult onslaught of problems affecting our work, school, social and even medical aspects of our lives. The good news is that counseling has never been easier to access. Our friends tell us what we want to hear, counselors tell us what we need to hear and give us the tools to make changes to help us on our journey. I have been a counselor since 1991 and am just as passionate about my work today as the day I started.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I received a master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from University Texas Southwestern Medical Center. I work with mental health struggles for adults of all ages including depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, trauma, and stress. Having received counseling services in the past myself, I know how difficult it can be to take the steps necessary to ask for help. I believe building a good relationship between therapist and client, along with concrete strategies, can help set people back on the road to recovery.

Hello! I'm Kailee and my passion for mental health work stems from my own experiences within the field. A social worker once saved me and it ignited a fire within my soul to help others who struggle with trauma, women's issues, or suicidal ideation. I am an Air Force veteran, and I am passionate about helping fellow veterans, military members, and first responders. I also work with perinatal mood & anxiety disorders. I use an eclectic approach to helping my clients as I believe there is no "one size fits all" for everyone. I strongly believe that you have the answers, sometimes you just need help finding them!

Welcome, fellow earth wanderers to my therapy page. If you've made it this far, you are at the point of knowing something isn't quite right in your world. That means you're above and beyond the others walking through life thinking, "it's fine. I'm fine. We're fine". I'm an empathetic, open minded veteran who also will likely have a cat join in for session. I have many...let's call them therapy animals. I offer a safe, inclusive, affirming safe space. Although I'm a white male, I have years of experience working within LGBTQIA+ and POC populations and am committed to exploring unconscious bias and working in an anti racist way.

Your treatment has a beginning, middle & end. I am trained and certified in many of the latest breakthrough treatments including EMDR and Brainspotting. I use these modalities because I have found them to be the most effective. The field of psychotherapy has come a long way since it began. We now know that it doesn't have to take as long as previously believed for permanent healing and change to take place. The term "neuroplasticity" refers to the brain's ability to change and rewire itself at any age or stage of life. Too often, clients participate in years of talk therapy and medication management without results.

You've spent years bouncing between different kinds of therapy with little to no benefit. You don't want to try medication and you're ready to unlock your brain's potential. Neurofeedback is what you're looking for! You’ve felt stressed, overworked, anxious, or sad before but this feels different. You can’t quite put your finger on it. You think today might be different, maybe you’ll feel like yourself again. It’s starting to become overwhelming. Maybe your work or relationships have yet to be impacted, or maybe they have. You begin to notice an overall negative outlook or feeling. Maybe you’re more irritable, feel more tired lately, have unusual physical sensations, or feel as though something terrible is going to happen. Many of my clients report feeling a sense of general unease without really understanding why.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Therapists

When should someone seek treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

People should seek a diagnosis and treatment after a head injury, especially if they were unconscious, and an early diagnosis can lead to a better recovery. Signs of a concussion include headaches, nausea or vomiting, exhaustion, dizziness, vision problems, sensitivity to light and sound, problems with attention and memory, brain fog, unusual irritability or sadness, and unusual sleep patterns.

What’s the most common treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

Treatment for a traumatic brain injury will be different depending on the severity of the problem. For mild injuries, treatment may involve rest and over-the-counter pain or headache medication. For moderate or severe injuries, treatment may involve stabilization, medication, and rehabilitative therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cognitive therapy, and counseling.

How long does it take to recover from traumatic brain injury?

The recovery time for a traumatic brain injury depends on the individual and the severity and nature of the injury; the length of time spent unconscious is often an indicator of severity. Recovery time for mild injuries may be a week or two while recovery time for more severe injuries may be six months to two years. Research suggests that the vast majority of recovery occurs in the first two years after an injury; recovery after that time frame is less certain.

What if a traumatic brain injury is left untreated?

If a traumatic brain injury is left untreated, it can lead to long-term physical and mental health problems. Physical problems may include dizziness, headaches, vision, healing, or speech loss, and an elevated risk of dementia. Psychological problems may include impairments of memory, judgment, and decision-making, depression, aggression, poor impulse control, and personality changes.
