I feel that it is vitally important to increase the awareness of our thoughts. Moreover, to question our thoughts. Most of our thoughts are inaccurate, and when believed, can cause a great deal of unnecessary unhappiness. Our journey to fully understanding our purpose and value in life requires a commitment to building patience, acceptance and self-awareness, to include the awareness of our thoughts.

Anxious, Depressed, Overwhelmed? Has life lost its meaning? I specialize in resolving Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma. I work with people to: 1.Release restrictive patterns that contribute to anxiety and depression. 2.Address the meaning of the symptoms, so they won't return in another form. 3.Tap the wisdom of body and psyche to facilitate the healing of trauma. 4.Use Mindfulness in relating to the emotions and issues, rather than from them. 5.Create a safe space in which to explore the process that is trying to unfold. 6.Restore a sense of aliveness, authenticity, and purpose to life.

My ideal client dares to do the work in therapy and integrate that work outside of the session. I facilitate the creation of secure functioning relationships. For individual clients, that means strong attachment bonds to their sense of self so they can self-regulate and begin to create new opportunities to live a life of beauty, excitement, and exploration. While for my couples therapy clients, we will work on building secure functioning relationships within the partnership through the processes of non-violent communication skills and repairing ruptures promptly.

I am an experienced trauma therapist with a profound passion for helping individuals heal from their emotional wounds. My journey into the world of trauma therapy began with overcoming my own trauma. I have extensive training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Somatic Experiencing. My goal is to help my clients get to the other side, and beyond what is causing distress and internal discord. We each have the capability, and right, to live our best life. Welcome: After thirty years of living in the San Juan Mountains, I connect best with clients who appreciate a direct approach. Counseling is collaborative and assists in the evolvement of a peaceful inner state - overriding fear, doubt, and the divisiveness surrounding humanity right now. Grief, anxiety, addiction, and trauma are met through a compassionate lens by safely encouraging your authentic reality to emerge, so that survival modes can relax. Through increased self-awareness and self-worth, vulnerability is embraced as a strength and good boundaries become accessible without guilt, shame or blame leading the narrative.

Grief is an entirely normal, involuntary, and healthy response to loss. It is also a profound, confusing, even shattering experience in the very best of circumstances. Grieving in today’s world, however, is made even more complicated by, among other things, the widespread presence of grief illiteracy. Our closest friends and family might not know how to respond to our experiences of loss, and we might not even know how to respond to ourselves. As a result, the inherent sense of isolation often accompanying bereavement can be magnified to absurd proportions. Grief, today, easily and often ushers in an extreme sense of aloneness.

Jungian Therapists

How does Jungian therapy work?

Jungian therapy, also called analytical psychology, focuses on a patient’s inner experiences and unconscious mind. Exploring a person’s unconscious mind can be achieved through several means, including the analysis of memories and dreams, and through physical exercises, such as art, dance, and word association.

How long does Jungian therapy last?

Jungian therapy is an intensive treatment type. Because its goal is to understand a person as a whole, including the unconscious aspects of them, treatment can range from months to years. Since patients learn the theory behind Jungian therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have completed.

Is Jungian therapy effective?

According to studies, many patients find success with Jungian therapy, and the century-old treatment has a devoted following. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Improvements in problem areas seem to continue even after the end of Jungian therapy, as people are able to continue working on themselves using the tools they’ve learned during the treatment.

Is Jungian therapy evidence-based?

Jungian therapy is theory-based, derived from the theories of Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist often called one of the fathers of psychology, along with Sigmund Freud. Jung developed his theories from observing the problems of patients, and developed many theories of how the mind works. Subsequent psychological research has determined that Jungian therapy can lead to significant improvement in most patients.
