Hello and welcome to my practice. Asking for help is not easy, so I am so glad you are here! Therapists are not a one size fits all and finding the right fit for you, your family, and/or your child is so important for therapy to be successful. My approach with clients is always collaborative, genuine and warm, and I use both empathy and humor. I am client-centered, strengths based, and solutions focused. I utilize multiple therapeutic modalities to correspond with the needs of each individual client, meeting them where they are at.

I believe that in order to be healthy, we need to be able to work, to love, and to play. If you are overwhelmed with anxiety or feelings of being lost, unsure of what you want, feeling less than whole, finding yourself procrastinating when you don't know why, or having repeated difficulty in relationships, I am hopeful you have come to the right place. By looking closely at what may be holding you back, we will be able to understand it with fresh eyes. This can lead you to your goals of relief from suffering, a greater sense of choice, and more freedom to express the self you most want to be.

Negative or traumatic experiences from the past get encoded in our bodies. When these neurons get triggered, our positive present mindset gets blasted by echoes of past fear. Old, stuck anxiety shape-shifts into not-great coping habits. Old, stuck depression whispers that it's dumb to future plan, unsafe to dream. Since this embodied stress speaks "sensation" , the language of the body, verbal therapy alone can't help our bodies know that the past is really, truly in the past. So we project our fear into the future. Pass it down to our kids. Spread it out into the world. I work with people who would like to be done with all that.

I work with emerging adults (ages 18-29) and professionals seeking to explore depression, anxiety, gender and sexuality, single-event, systemic and interpersonal trauma, self-esteem, creativity, and career and academic planning. We might be a good match if you often find yourself focused on the distressing feelings, body sensations, and thoughts that form in response to trauma and life’s challenges. Maybe you want to incorporate a mind/body approach to mental health, explore your attachment style, or learn new coping tools.

People thinks you have it together all of the time. Really, you are overwhelmed spending all your energy making it look so. No one would know you are highly stressed, both at work and at home. You take care of everyone else's needs before your own, and while its exhausting, you feel too guilty to put yourself first. You have always succeeded in school and in work because that was what was expected of you. However, you know you are not living your truth. You know it's because you never took the time to figure out what truly fulfills you. As you try to sleep your heart pounds while you criticize yourself for not being good enough.

I also work with women who are in the Orthodox Jewish community and seeking relationship or fertility/perinatal support and/or trauma work.
Feelings of hopelessness, shame and inadequacy may be rising up regardless of your daily positive affirmations. When you are feeling stuck, it may be time to try a different approach—targeting your thoughts, body and emotions. Together, you will learn to self-regulate, relieve your symptoms, and increase your confidence and self-worth in order to embody your authentic self. We’ll work together to heal your past so you can ground yourself in the present and reach future goals.

I am a white, queer, abolitionist, non-binary, dyslexic, Jewish, body-liberatory therapist, and most importantly, a client.
There are a number of credentials I could share about myself and ways you might decide if I'm the right therapist for you, but honestly, between you and me, what matters is that I love this work. I use theories rooted in an anti-racist, queer liberation, harm reduction, and body-neutral framework. I feel most drawn to this work through an attachment-focused analytical frame. We have all been harmed in relationships, and I believe our healing must also exist in relationships. I know we cannot look at one's personal frame without understanding the systemic and cultural impact that intersectionality has had on one's own experience.

Do you find yourself struggling with sadness or constant worry? Are you having difficulty in your relationships? No matter what you're going through, this will be a safe space for you. I'm here to help. I am a licensed mental health counselor of 4 years and have mostly worked in nonprofit. I believe mental health care should be attainable for all, which is why I accept health insurances and offer reduced rates if needed. Much of my work has been with the Jewish population.

I believe the therapeutic relationship can be both healing and empowering. I use a person centered, strengths-based approach to help each person best reach their goals. Together we create a warm, safe, and genuine space that each person can use to gain self-awareness and feel supported. We work to eliminate distress and facilitate personal growth to help the client reach their individual goals. Throughout this process, I place great importance on understanding the impact of a person’s identity, culture, and environment to best support them. Jewish Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same background to be able to work together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of cultural forces, such as discrimination, that may contribute to that client’s concerns. With a professional who has such training, a client should feel comfortable discussing sensitive issues without feeling that they need to self-censor.

How can I recognize an effective Jewish therapist?

As with members of any religious or ethnic group, just because two people happen to be Jewish does not guarantee that they will share the same values, knowledge, or experiences. A Jewish client seeking a therapist who shares their cultural identity, or for whom it’s important that a therapist share their religious beliefs, may want to discuss a professional’s Jewish background with them before beginning therapy. For someone who seeks justification for major life changes in their religious tradition, or in biblical writings, finding a therapist who is comfortable framing guidance in that context may be especially valuable.

Would a Jewish therapist have unique training?

No, but they should have the same training and certification as any other mental health professional, as well as experience with a range of evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or mindfulness-based therapy. A therapist with this type of experience should be able to help any client feel comfortable and safe, which is essential for a therapeutic alliance. Once this is established, a potential client may want to find out more about the therapist’s Jewish background.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with Jewish clients?

A client can directly ask a therapist if they have extensive experience working with Jewish clients and if so, whether these individuals sought counseling for faith-related issues or marital or familial issues in which their Jewish background was a factor. A client may also wish to ask a potential therapist whether they incorporate Jewish teachings and values into their own professional work.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Jewish therapists?

The directory of Jewish therapists includes professionals who have opted to share their cultural background on their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose their background, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Jewish clients and/or communities.
